Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this coat! I wanted a below-knee length coat that would keep me warm and not soak through as soon as it saw rain. Also hoped for one that would look OK too. The Prospect fits the bill. Toasty warm and really well shaped for a puffy coat, have had lots of compliments. I prefer to wear a hat than a hood so I can see better but so many hoods are too small to then put over a hat if a shower starts. This hood has plenty of room to go over a hat if needed and has plenty of adjustment with the pull cord and the snap buttons (can close them outer to outer or outer to inner IYSWIM!) I no longer dread going out in the cold and love having any excuse to wear it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warmest coat Really happy with this! I compared with the Montreaux but decided on the Prospect because it was noticeably warmer, as I was looking for a jacket for walking the dog in the New England winter. Have worn this on numerous freezing days and it keeps me so warm! I agree with other reviews that the pockets have a weird placement- a little too high which can be unflattering around your waist when you have keys and stuff in the pockets. I was also worried that it would be too long on me, I’m 5’3 and have the Small, and the jacket runs mid calf (longer than picture on model) but doesn’t look funny. Love the fitted hood and zippers that go up for more mobility with high boots. If you’re looking for a the warmest coat, this is it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No-nonsense warmth! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After a long search for a replacement for a beloved mid-calf, warm winter coat, I finally found the Prospect coat. The simple design, warmth factor, and lack of a glaring logo made this a no-brainer for me. It finally got cold enough last night to wear for the first time, and I was out with the dog in 20 degree weather and 25 mile an hour winds and was toasty and happy! The side zippers will come in handy when hiking with tall winter boots on, and the extra protection that the hood provides when snapped will eliminate the need for a scarf or gator. For reference, I am 5'7" and 125 lbs. I have broad shoulders and long arms, and the Medium fits well without any added bulk. Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My best winter coat purchase to date. Have this coat 5 stars because it is the best winter coat I have ever purchased. I have told at least 15 strangers about this coat that have commented while grocery shopping or walking my dog. Live half time between the city and high elevation mtn town (partner's). I had been looking for a coat like this for two years+. 5'7" 145-150#- Initially bought the Medium per the recommendation of site/size chart but the arms were too short and it was slightly too fitted it fit another light down layer underneath if needed. I recommend sizing up one size for these reasons. Hood has great coverage and not too much. The pockets are well placed and a good size to hold wallet/phone/keys/poop bags. I have worn it 6 days a week since purchase. Mentioned to my partner that maybe I need this in another color but the price point is too high for me to have more than one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highest quantity and quality of down I could find This coat is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something long enough to cover my knees and also something that was stuffed with a lot of down. Fill power just describes the quality of down used, but I wanted a jacket with the highest quantity of down. I called Patagonia, the north face, and marmot to ask them the number of grams of down contained in the prospect coat and the comparable coats from the other companies. The North Face didn’t have that information available, so they were easily eliminated. Patagonia had amazing customer service of course, but their knee length parka, the Jackson Glacier parka, only had 170 grams of down for a medium jacket. Marmot’s prospect coat had 245.8 grams of down in their medium jacket, so it wasn’t really a contest between the two. I purchased the prospect in an xs and it feels true to size. I’ve been really impressed with the warmth so far. I’m 5’3” and the length hits just below my knees.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Floridian up north [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I read a review about this coat that said “if you’re thinking about buying this, just do it”, and after months of searching for the “perfect” winter coat, I found it. By far my favorite purchase. I am originally from Florida and can’t handle the cold at all, so I bought this coat and decided to test it out at a football game in Michigan while it was snowing. Only had a tank top and a sweatshirt underneath it and I was the warmest person at the tailgate. Just like the person who’s review I read before, if you’re considering buying it, just do it. You won’t regret it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great coat! I love Marmot. This is my Go To brand for down coats. They are really warm and great value for the price. I ordered this as an upgrade in length and warmth from the Montreaux. Fit is TTS. I had to go down a size from Montreaux, which ran small for me. I love the side zippers. Makes getting in and out of the car and doing stairs much easier while keeping my knees warm! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that there is a bit of clumping in the down in a few spots post washing/drying it per the instructions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable walks around the neighborhood I'm a Minnesotan who likes winter and despises being cold. I've been in pursuit of a long down winter coat such as this for a few years. This fits me better than other similar coats I've tried on from competitors. The shoulders have some nice room for unrestricted movement. It is slightly form fitting around the hips for me, but doesn't warrant sizing up. I'm 5'6, 145 lbs, 39.5" hips. The buttons on the hood are difficult to squeeze shut and some of them don't fully "click," but the hood has always stayed secure for me and fits beautifully. I was expecting a long coat of this nature to keep my thighs warm. Don't get me wrong, it keeps me warmer than if the coat didn't extend past my knees, but they still feel cold. Overall this coat is a joy to wear and I'm happy that I feel both comfortable and stylish while wearing it.
