The Merrell Men's Alverstone Waterproof Boot is a low hiking shoe for full protection on the trail. Featuring an M Select DRY membrane, water stays out and feet stay dry and happy. Just don't step into a deep creek, but you'll be good to go in rain, puddles and mud. Air Cushion offers shock absorption through each step and you can trust the 5mm lugs built into the M Select GRIP rubber outsole to offer traction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kevin from Great shoe! I bought these 2 years ago. I stand all day long, walk through rain and mud, and an constantly on slick surfaces. These shoes are comfy, sturdy, supportive, and very waterproof. Exactly what I had been looking for. The toe of my shoes constantly get tore up on other shoes, but didn't make a dent in these. If I knew then, what I knew now, I would've bought 3 pairs. I am a Merrell fan and just bought a pair of their snow / hiking boots for winter and they fit great. Time to buy another pair of alverstones, but, can't find my old color. Dang! Come on Merrell, your killing me!

The shoe is well made but these are hard on my feet, the last pair of Merrell's I had fit really snug around my toes, so this time I bumped it up a half size. When I first put them on I thought they fit pretty good but after working in the yard and walking my dogs a few times, these shoes just destroy my feet... The pain is more than I can bear and by the end of the day, I could barely walk. I wish I would have noticed sooner they just don't fit as well as I first thought. I wouldn't want to discourage someone from trying this shoe but for me, a person with flat feet they just didn't work out as I expected.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Outdoorsman from Cling Wrap Plastic Sounds Unfortunately these WP shoes sound like you're walking with food cling wrap on your feet. That must be how you keep your feet dry? I actually think the sound is coming from the glue used for the insole. Every step feels like the insole is popping or crinkling under foot. I have video to show, just flexing the shoe like you're stepping makes a similar sound but video isn't on YT, so I can't upload it here. Take cling wrap and crunch it up in your hand and that's the sound it makes. So, there's no way I can wear these indoors and it's too intrusive of a sound to wear them in nature. Probably just a bad shoe; never had a problem with other WP Merrell shoes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by TheGreatCornholio from 2nd pair of Merrells, kinda disappointed. Got these shoes as a replacement for my first pair of Merrells. First thing I noticed was the size was too small. I ordered an 11, felt more like a 10. Next, I wanted to test the "waterproofing" first puddle I stepped in water started to leak in around my little toe. The water dried very quickly but was not waterproof. And finally i am returning these after 4 months of having them. The eyelet ripped where the shoestring attached. First pair I bought were awesome, I'm sad they only lasted 6 months. The second pair a little under par. I'm really hoping the third will set things right.

Rated 1 out of 5 by PNW Hiker from Clunky shoe - uncomfortable seams in the heal-cup Returned: After hearing how comfortable Merrells were, and finding myself in need of a low top waterproof hiker, I was excited to try these out. They were so uncomfortable I sent them back. 1) There are substantial, rough seams in the heal-cup of the shoe. Felt like there would've been significant heal chaffing, and blister battles. 2) The shoes just feel bulky. I think I've worn full high-top hikers that felt less clunky. For reference: I'm a mid-40's, 6'0", 155lb male with years of hiking experience in the PNW. I wear a 10.5-11 size shoe, and have a broad(ish) fore-foot and narrow heal. I still hope to try some Merrells in the future, but these were *not it*

Rated 4 out of 5 by Eric from Highly recommend, very comfortable, solid quality. I am an HVAC technician that does a ton of walking through all types of terrain everyday. First off I want to say the Alverstone's were very comfortable from day one and are still today even though they are just about worn out. Traction is excellent and they dont seem to track dirt indoors. I am in wet conditions often, especially grass in the morning and washing equipment. This said the Alverstone was 100% waterproof for the first 6 months, afterwards they were more water repellent than waterproof. Thus the 4 star rating. Bottom line, I was very happy with the Alverstones. Merrell are always comfortable and good quality, which is what I want for my hard earned money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by C1 from All around very good The shoes are very reliable, well designed and made, very durable, and look very good. It grips very well in all environments and is really comfortable. There aren't any downsides to it except maybe it can feel warm in the shoes sometimes while wearing them (though I live in Florida, and they would probably be great for winter time) and they're waterproof. Overall great shoes.
