Not at all WaterproofFirst day wearing these (yesterday) and didn't even get rained on, but when walking in some damp conditions the shoes did get mildly wet and soaked through to the sock. Not something that you should expect from a "Waterproof" product. Although it is likely that the Gore-Tex version of the product is much more Waterproof than this technology, Merrell has lost my trust by selling a product that claims to be waterproof when not. I'm sure their response on here will be to contact their customer service team, but what I am looking for is a waterproof shoe, not an explanation on how to make these shoes waterproof. I will be buying my next boots from a competitor.

Good fit & comfortableI purchased these to replace an earlier model of same shoe. These are similar but with slight differences. The fabric lace loops are narrower , the old pairs fabric loops wore out and I had a cobbler replace them with metal loops. May need to do same with these.
The shoes are sized as mentioned. My feet can breathe well without sweating, good thing.
Stability is good with decent arch support for people with standard arches.
The shoes look good and has multiple color choices.
The shoes protect the soles of feet during regular walks on Semi to tough terrain with light to no pack. We have had no rain so unknown about wet protection, yet.

Comfort and ankle supportWanted to wait til I actually put these to the test before giving a review (Always wonder why products are reviewed right out of the box). I have been a Merrell Chameleon fan but needed some better ankle support The Merrell Labor Day sale on the waterproof Moab was great timing for my Hiking vacation in Hendersonville and DuPont Recreational Site at the end of September. I wore them regularly in to “ beak them in” before our vacation. Honestly I really didn’t need to. They fit to size and were comfortable and gave good support. I enjoy the hook tie at the top of the shoe to give better ankle support. Glad I gave the Moab line a try. Very pleased.

Not waterproof, Never AgainI'm not new to Merrell shoes or boots but will never buy them again. My son and I both bought MOAB waterproof boots and I also have the low version. Within a few months all three pairs started to leak. Merrell replaced them after a drawn out process. I now have the Gore-tex MOABs and guess what, they leak too! I'm not talking about walking through puddles or streams. I'm walking across wet grass after--not during--rain or morning dew.
I like the fit and the look of the boot but don't need wet feet either when hiking or just walking the dog. Too bad the quality of Merrell products has declined so much.

These hikers have all around great performanceWhat I love about Moab hikers is that they have half sizes to 12.5 I am most comfortable in 12.5 and Merrell is the only manufacturer that I know that makes a wide 12.5 Hiker! I wore these out of the box hiking the dunes of Lake Michigan and I have to say they were perfect. The waves on the beach crashed over the boot several times and my feet were totally dry. The sand did not get wedged into any of the fabric on the outside of the boot, and I was able to climb the sand dunes just as easy with the boots on as being barefoot. These are worth the price for their comfort and fit. I will get another pair just because I love being in them.

Comfortable and Great for WalkingI purchased these shoes a few months ago for my daily walks in the cold and wet winter. I was looking for a high-top shoe which was waterproof, light, and had traction. This shoe is waterproof and light, however the traction is not the best. I have noticed that the toe portion of the shoe slips on wet pavement when stepping from the trailing foot. I replaced the insoles with ones that are better for my feet. After walking 15 miles a week in cold and wet conditions they are still in good shape and comfortable. I am happy with the shoes overall, however I will be looking for a shoe from Merrell which has better traction on wet (maybe icy) pavement.

Good bye KeenWho’d a thunk it. Boots so much like Keen brand. AND,,,,Save money too.
They are excellent hiking boots. And they look great too. But beware, it feels like they may be a 1/2 size too small. When I bought these I had just taken off my Keens to try these on. They felt great. I walked around the store for quite a while before making my decision to purchase them. I even wore them home. But the next day after wearing them for a couple of hours, my feet hurt a bit. I’m still wearing them and hoping they start feeling better. MOAB 2 mid.
But as far as a review, I will still give them a 41/2 out of 5. I’m looking forward to a great pair of hikers.

3rd Pair- great all around hiking shoeI purchased my first pair (Mid top) several years ago for a Peru trip hiking Marchu Pichu . Right out of the box worked great. Spent 7-8 days hiking with no blisters or hot spots. Lasted 5years excellent boots!
Purchased a second pair of low top, they got wet several times and the glue separated the upper from the sole. I was disappointed they did not last very long like the first pair.
Just purchased another pair of mid Moab 2 waterproof. Heading to Alaska now for a 10 day trip. Hoping this pair is as good as the first pair.
I have tried keen and several others. Nothing comes close to the fit and comfort of Merrrell.
