Bad upperI use this shoe as a daily shoe to wear to work and back ( I wear my dress shoes at work), around town and for light hiking.
The shoe fits well , is very comfortable especially since I replaced the standard laces with aftermarket bungee laces and is breathable.
However within 3 months of wearing this the printed TPU Upper started cracking and peeling off from the mesh. In about 6 months the shoe looked tattered despite the mesh and the sole being intact.
Stay away from these "3d Printed" plastic stck on designs. They provide neither long lasting looks nor comfort.
I've had other Merrell shoes and have been a big fan all through except for these shoes.

Good, recommending, few dislikesAbove average fit for folks with wide feet who like to hike in warm weather and (I feel) superior to the MOAB 2 across the board—unique option having tried several dozen wide hikers/trail runners over the past couple years! But there’s room for improvement. A bit too deep in the toe box. Heel capture could be better (need to over tighten laces to lock in place). The tongue is the least comfortable part: too long and not wide enough (pressure point from exposed laces laces at upper eyelets). And one shoe suffers from the old squeaky heel. I will nonetheless definitely be buying more pairs as good wide hikers/trail runners are hard to come by these days. More colors and perhaps a lower drop would be the cherry on top!

Exactly as neededMy podiatrist recommended Merrell shoes with a more solid "ball of the foot" portion of the sole, due to an ongoing issue I have. I ordered these online based on already having a pair of Merrell's an assuming sizing was the same. I was pleasantly surprised to find they fit exactly the same, and provided me with the extra support I need for workouts and exercise on the elliptical. They are very well made and very solid. While the do weigh a little more than other athletic shoes, this was expected as they are better built.
I will continue buying Merrell shoes across the board due to their quality and fitment being the same from model to model.

1st pair great- 2nd and 3rd pair junkWe bought these shoes for my husband. He bought a pair to wear for work. He loved the first pair that he decided to get a second pair for camping and hiking. The 2nd pair of shoes started coming apart on both sides after hiking once, we returned them. We bought a 3rd pair thinking maybe it was just a faulty pair but the 3rd pair did it after going camping (no hiking, just walking around campsite). I just returned them and bought a different style of Merrell’s to see if my husband likes the other style. If he doesn’t, we will be finding a different brand for hiking shoes. At a price point this high, quality should not be questionable. I would tell Merrell that they need to do some quality control on their products. Hopefully this helps you choose wisely!

SolidAs a healthcare worker I am scheduled 12-hour shifts and am on my feet and walking a great deal of the time. I have really struggled in finding a shoe capable of what I need. These shoes have met the criteria so far. I have much less fatigue on my legs after 3 12 hour shifts in a row. I also have less palmer foot pain at the end of the day. The shoes are roomy yet no slipping, rubbing or hot spots on your foot at the end of the day. I noticed that I also have less foot odor when I take my shoes off. I have tried Brooks, Hoka, New Balance, ASICS, Nike with no luck!
Moab Edge 2 has met my needs on a weekly basis for over 48 weeks (50 hours per week)
They are still comfortable but will probably invest in another couple pair.

This product fell apart in less than 30 daysI love Merrell and have several of their products. I bought these shoes for trail hiking this summer. I took three decent hikes of 7-9 miles. After the second hike, I noticed some cracking along the stretch where I bend at the toe. And on the third hike, the material on the edge started to peel off. By mile 6, the seam between the sole and the top of the shoe started to split. Ugh. Very frustrating.
Don't buy these for outdoor use. Happy to share pictures.

Love this shoe!!!I bought a pair of these shoes on a whim years ago, and they have become my favorite show for a huge variety of uses. They're durable enough to wear hiking and to the range, and they look nice enough and breath well enough to wear daily. They look good with tactical pants and jeans. They're comfortable standing around, and when working hard.
They're not my absolute favorite hikers for very heavy hiking (although they're still very good at that), but they do a HUGE amount of things REALLY well. Definitely one of my favorite pairs of shoes, and I'll keep buying more.

Perfect!I have wide feet and Merrel makes wide shoes that fit me perfect! I’ve purchased many Merrel shoes over the years because of that. I just got these Moab Edge 2 Wides in the mail today and wore them all afternoon. They fit perfect and are extremely comfortable. I can’t wait to hike in them. I recently decided to try another brand for their trail running shoes that were sized wide...they weren’t, I returned them the next day and bought these Moabs instead. Thank you Merrel for making wide shoes that are actually wide, I’m sorry I strayed, I won’t be doing it again. Merrel customer for life.
