Great Shoe For Hard SurfacesThis shoe really helped with my hotspots on longer walks/hikes on paved and hard surfaces. I've work Moab Ventilators for years, but once I started doing some rucks on paved trails, around 3 miles I started struggling with serious hotspots no matter what I did. I tried out the Moab Speed, going up a half size, and it has been an AMAZING difference. Yesterday I did 7 miles and my feet are doing quite well, didn't notice anything at all until maybe 6+ miles. They aren't as great for anything technical or wet- I got back to my Vents for that - but for rucking on our local bike trail around the lake they have been a real Godsend!

Comfort vs durabilityI am a huge proponent of Merrell footwear. I have several pairs of Merrell shoes, I wear them intensely and the last and last.
I am now on my second pair of Moab Speeds, an incredibly comfortable shoe, worth the cost. Unfortunately the lack durability. The sole material is of a much lesser material than other shoes. I wore my first pair out in about two months. The soles just we gone. I’ll see how my second pair holds up.
I would highly recommend that Merrell consider replacing the current more porous bottom sole material with a denser rubber. It would drastically increase the value of this otherwise wonderful shoe!!!

This is a great shoe! With only one review, I was taking a chance, but boy was I rewarded! I walk briskly on the roads and paths in our neighborhood, and also on the trails in the hills nearby in Sonoma County, CA. These are the perfect shoes for me. I knew the fit of my other Moabs, but wanted something lighter, with enough cushion for the roads. Out of the box, I did a 5 mile walk, and loved the shoes immediately. A couple of days later, I wore them for a 5 mile hike in the hills, with the same result. These are now my favorite shoes, and I highly recommend them.

It's Like the All-Wheel Drive of Hiking Shoes!I started using Merrell's back in 2015 just because I live and work in the mountain ranges of Northeastern California. We have four seasons here and there are times when the snow and ice are just too much for "regular" footwear. Not to mention a lot of rugged terrain. I have relied on my MOAB boots and low cuts to give my feet the protection and comfort I need but I have always longed for a pair of Merrell's that would give me better everyday extended-walking comfort. I finally found that in the MOAB Speed. It's like the All-Wheel Drive of hiking shoes! It helps me stay on my feet, comfortably, the whole day at work.

Great from the startI got these right before a trip to Alaska in May. I felt that the sizing was slightly bigger than expected and with a thin sock and then a wool sock they fit great. The toe space was more than ample, maybe too much for my foot specifically. They get 5 stars because I wore them on trails that were muddy, wet, snow pack, ice, and a few dry ones. No slips, no extra cramp-ons/yak-traks for traction in any of it. They repelled water and kept my feet dry-ish but warm. Only dryish because snow or rain would come down from the top and get smashed in when I post holed 3 feet in. Not the shoe's fault. I never had a break in period and never needed it. They worked great right out of the box and very supportive. I definitely recommend them.

Worth every penny.Merrell's last a long time, especially as I have moved to more sedentary life. Still, was time to move my old Moab's to the "yard work" section of my closet. I had a hard time deciding which style to buy, but these are just right for me. Modern style, not too showy, but more importantly even better support, cushioning and stability over my last pair. Pretty right out of the box, can see how you could do light trail and jogging in these. Lightweight but enough structure to keep you true--even an old guy. Kind of wish I had bought a more colorful design, but this one goes with everything--and there is always the post-Xmas sale! These are great shoes.

Best ‘light hiking’/everyday wear shoes I’ve foundI find that “wide” shoes are rarely wide enough (unless you can order 2E, 4E etc. or similar ‘extra wide’ sizes). These are perfect. I have moderately ‘wide’ feet. These are very comfortable, I’ve been wearing Merrill’s almost exclusively for the last 25 years. I”m convinced they are the best shoe for the money. Killer colors! Look great and are the best new shoes I’ve had in years. Very, Very comfortable! I can’t recommend them enough. And the soles are nice and grippy and last forever too. You will not be disappointed. You definitely get your moneys worth with Merrells.

Very disappointed! This is actually the first pair of Merrell shoes that I have truly been disappointed in. I never actually got to where out of the house before having issues with them. Both shoes came with the insoles kinked at the arch which makes them uncomfortable. On top of that one of the eyelets ripped upon trying to tighten the shoes on one of my first times trying the shoes on in the house. Overall I’m truly disappointed in these shoes, and wish I had gone with something completely different as I am now left with a pair of shoes I cannot use.
