Rated 1 out of 5 by from Another pair of leaky merrell's.... Unfortunately these brand new waterproof boots as seems to be the standard for merrell boots these days, since 3 sets I've ordered in the last year have all leaked. LEAK... Yup, left boot leaks through the toe from wet snow sitting on them during a 60 minute walk, didn't even step in a puddle. I am very, very dissapointed and frustrated. There are also 2 folds in the tongue of the boot that you have to fiddle with to have them not painfully dig into your ankles. Otherwise, they are very comfortable (when fiddled with) and extremely warm. But leaking, again gets the 1 star rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A real boot for real men This boot is very sturdy but relatively lightweight for it's level of supportiveness. Because of the materials used, it has more of a robust workboot feel while still bridging the gap nicely as a pseudo-speed hiker. They're not as heavy as a workboot and not as whimpy as a full synthetic hiker. It is a true winter boot as far as warmth goes but it's not going to be the ideal choice in 6 inches of snow or more because it's not the tallest boot out there. The vibram winter sole is very grippy and will be a trusted friend on ice, snow, mud, and loose gravel. I usually wear a 13 but a 12 fits me perfectly. I envision this boot being very useful in the spring and fall not just the winter. I love the styling and well thought out usage of rubber in key areas to prevent water intrusion.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but do now work miracles on wet ice. Took them out for a couple miles in slush, snow and ice. They are comfortable and slipping was kept to a minimum. These are better than standard hikers in the frozen stuff but don't expect miracles on ice. If cold ice they do pretty good but wet ice is still hazardous. Nothing can surpass spikes on ice. I think they could do more with the tread. Some sipes and perhaps smaller blocks might be better. I will see how they hold up. For more traction there are the spiked tracks but I bought these boots to see if I can do without. They will be good for 80% of the conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very comfortable, zero break-in period Goes without saying - these are very warm, and have excellent grip in the cold wet conditions. But what pleased me the most was the exceptional comfort - right out of the box. I am quite particular when looking for that perfect fit and perfect balance between comfort and stability. This boot meets the need for the late fall and winter months. I ended up getting both colors. THANK YOU MERRELL - for offering a size 15 in just about all of you footwear. Keeps me coming back, season after season.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Design, just one minor flaw! These are indeed great Winter transportation. One problem is that they also bring your trip to a sudden halt when the laces engage the side eyelets (3mm opening) and bring you crashing down. Not a problem in the living room (just a shoulder bruise) nor on a snow covered walk (lightly padded), but could be an issue "outdoors" in more adventurous places. We solved it by cutting the bottoms off some trail socks and using the tops as a "gaiter" to cover the eyelets. Never had such a surprising flaw in all my years with Merrells, and will continue to buy the brand, but maybe "accessorize" them?( And no, the eyelets cannot be compressed to a smaller opening; they're too well made!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth it! These are excellent boots! I hike in the snow and these are comfortable and have great traction. Have really great arch support. Waterproof through and through. The tread does not gather snow pack which is amazing. They are also an attractive boot on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded my expectations I wear these boots WHENEVER I go outside this winter. The grip is great. Having suffered for a couple of months with a twisted ankle due to snow on ice decided to get boots that would support ankles and grip. They look good enough to wear to church, and I did. Safe and cool looking......what a combo! I will be buying another pair of thermo/gripping but pull on Merrill boots and will send them to my Father.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boots I bought a half size up and I can wear a heavy pair of socks and still wiggle my toes. They are not as warm as a pair of heavily insulated winter boots, but still good for hiking shoes, I wore them for about two hours in 15 degree weather and my toes were getting cold at the end. They are comfortable and the heel does not slip. I have worn them snowblowing and snowshoeing in 2 feet of snow. I have worn them in light rain in long wet grass. No leaks so far- my feet have been perfectly dry. They are great boots so far - been wearing them 1 month, mostly walking the dog in cold and wet weather.
