Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and reliable hiking shoes I bought these for a hiking trip to Acadia where I would be going up a cliff exposed mountain and climbing metal ladders. The day before I got there, it rained for almost two days straight to needless to see it was a muddy and wet terrain. I was SO impressed with these shoes! Not only were they stable and reliable, they kept my feet completely dry and stopped me from a few different falls. This was also my first time wearing them and there was no break-in period at all. Overall, SO happy and kept saying I need to write a review because I love these shoes so much. The only thing I would say is- if you plan on wearing thick hiking socks I would go up a half size.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wanted to Like I bought these in the hopes of wearing them for my job which involves a lot of walking. I never have had an issue with shoes being too tight on the tops of my feet, but I had that problem with these. There is a stiff material halfway down the tongue of the shoe that rubs on the top of my foot, and its a material that won't stretch out over time so there is no way to break the shoe in. They also squeak with every step I take which is quite annoying, but I would have tolerated it if I didn't have the other issue with the shoes. I also am a size 9 in the Moab style with room to wear slightly thicker socks if I wanted, but these fit smaller so I should have purchased a 9.5 instead.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not waterproof I have had several pairs of Merrell shoes, but am disappointed with this one. While the fit is great and the other features are as advertised, the waterproof feature lasted only about 3 months. The "waterproof" feature was the main reason I purchased this shoe, for my light hikes. Today, my socks and feet were soaked after walking through only wet grass. In addition, my cousin has the MOAB shoe and the very same thing has happened, no longer "waterproof" after only a few months. This is so disappointing. I will hesitate to purchase Merrell shoes again for this reason.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent, versatile shoe I wanted to wait awhile to give these shoes an honest, time-tested review and they have not disappointed since the day they arrived a few months ago. There was no need to break them in and I have worn them for several activities from long walks along a rugged creek path with my dogs to hiking up steep, rocky hills after a heavy rain in Northern California, where I live. They are much more lightweight than a hiking boot and don’t have that clunky, chunky look the way true hiking boots do, yet they are much more sturdy and supportive than a regular walking/running shoe. I definitely would purchase this again and am waiting patiently until the black pair comes back into stock my size :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect for urban hikes and neighborhood walks I got to wear this on one good hike prior to our Stay At Home orders in CA. Now I find myself wanting to put them on for walks from my home and the urban trails I know just up the street. The Bravada is so hard to put into words, because there is nothing like it. The shoe itself for wearing is SO comfortable. The upper is soft and flexible, what I like to call 'bouncy'. It's roomy, but still holds your foot in place. The thick is rugged, thick, and trusty. These are all words you could only know and understand after wearing them! Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it. LOVE these shoes. I purchased both waterproof and regular Bravadas for mountain trail training and marathon. Can get incredibly wet and dirty and has not seen damage or wear down yet. I will say for the extra waterproofing there is not much difference other than the shoe keeps my feet a little warmer in cold months. That's not to say it isn't waterproof, just that the standard shoe which I also own is adequate for muddy and wet trails. Only "complaint" of note is the heel piece comes up rather high which is not a problem, but I am conscious about wearing ankle high socks when training long runs. Trained and ran my first marathon in these shoes. LOVE THEM. Bought a second pair. Very supportive on rock, tree roots, mud, creeks, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Technical and comfortable right out of the box! My first time wearing my Bravada's was on a 4 mile hike carrying the kids. Instantly, I loved how comfortable and flexible the shoes felt- no "break in" period was required. I was able to hike for several miles without any rubbing, stiffness, or blisters. The thing that really sold me on the Bravada's was the grippiness of the sole. I was able to confidently hike up and down steeper rocky slabs, navigate gravely sections of trail, and move easily over slippery, wet logs. The color of the shoe is great too. These are a keeper!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a good fit The shoe felt comfortable, but after walking a little bit in them, I could tell that the shoes were rubbing hard on my ankle bone and actually caused a blister like gash after walking just one mile. It could be an easy fix if the manufacturer cut the sides of the shoe by the ankles just a little bit lower so that the shoes did not rub on the ankles bones. Secondly, this shoe does not have a "tongue" like most shoes. Instead, the flap between the laces is completely attached to the shoe. I have narrow feet. Therefore, when I tighten the laces up, it causes a ripple on the top of my shoe. I think a real tongue with cuts would remedy this problem so the shoe lays flat.
