Caused plantar fasciitisI'm so disappointed in these boots. The sole is very hard and dense and causes a great deal of impact against the sole of my foot. I ended up having to buy shock absorbing insoles and that made a big difference. However I'm still having some pain. Its a lot better though than without the insoles. This is the fourth pair of Merrells I bought, the last two have been very uncomfortable to a damaging degree to my feet. It seems Merrell shoes have degraded in quality because the first few boots I bought from them years ago were great. I'm upset because after spending good money on them, I feel like I have to wear them out, and my feet are not happy about it.

Update color options please!!!!I love these shoes. I've owned several pairs over the years but haven't purchased a pair in quite a while due to the poor color options. I work outside, the light tan pair is a poor option as it would be immediately stained. The other two "options" are both purple. C'mon, it's 2020!!! Not every female wants pink or purple on their shoes!!! Personally, I can't stand the color purple. I honestly wish my feet were larger so that I could wear a pair of mens shoes- something dark brown, black, grey, dark blue, anything but pink or purple or nearly white. I'm so disappointed in the lack of realistic options because I love these shoes. Merrell, get with the program and change up the color scheme of the moab ventilator PLEASE

Not greatFirst, know that the olive color is very much GREEN and not tan. The wide also seems to have more length then the normal size as well. I find most shoes to be snug in the toes but these are wide all around and not just in that area.
The heel is by far the worst part of this shoe - its extremely bulbous and sticks out very far and sharply in the center compared to the rest of the bottom of the shoe. You can feel it while walking/standing and it gives the whole shoe a very uncomfortable uneven feel. The shoe doesn't sit flat or have a nice heel/toe round transition, it sharply rotates around this one part of the heel.

Moab 2- An Unfortunate ExperienceI wore this on a 26+ mile hike. I expected Merrell quality and support from this shoe.
2 stars- It started out as comfortable
1 mile - Vibram traction? I slipped when I stepped on the wet drain grate, and the floor tile in the train station
5 miles - chaffing at the left ankle (through the sock) and sore arches
8 miles - both heels are really sore and the chaffing is really bad,
18 miles -both heels are swollen, blisters on both big toes, I could not take another step - HIKE IS DONE,
These shoes are now relegated to the pile of "never again". I wish I could return them to you, as I no longer wish to have them anywhere in my house, garage, front yard or street.
I will not recommend this shoe.

The best bootI've had this boot for over a year now, and they are just as comfortable as the day I bought them. I have wide, sensitive feet (prone to cramps) and I am ALWAYS comfortable in these boots. I hike at least once a week, from 4-6 miles. My feet and back are rarely ever sore. I feel that I can rely on the traction and ankle security of the boots quite a bit. They dry off very quickly and even hold up well in shallow waters for a nonwaterproof boot. I genuinely cannot recommend these boots enough, 1 year later and they are still the best purchase I have made in awhile.

My Favorite 3 Seasons Hiking Boot[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my third pair of the Moab 2 Vent. When I hike in warm weather, where sandals wouldn't be safe, this is my go to brand and style because of the ventilation and comfort! I love this boot because it is soft and specious. with ample supple support for the heel/ankle! No chafing! Feels like a glove from the moment I put it on. A couple of limitations to be aware of: sand tends to easily get in through the mash part and, In sharp down climbing or in small/medium loose rocks area the front is too soft to protect the toes. Which means that when hiking in such terrains consider using a different pair of hiking shoes/boots.

Great hiking boot for all terrains. Lightweight. My hubby and I were researching hiking boots with good reviews only. We decided to try the Merrell brand with vibram sole. We wanted water proof boots as well but didn't find good enough reviews to pay the additional cost. This boot was comfortable right out of the box. I would have given them a 5 star but lateral movement hurt my feet. The strapping on the sides of the boots hurt when ever pressure was lateral. We hike a lot and my feet hurt after our 6 mile hike. Possibly getting used to boots? We will try them out again on our next hike. The mid boot and vibram sole gave my ankles great support which was the goal for choosing this hiking boot. Wished the water proofing got better reviews for overall performance & cost.

Great for over 65 year old feetI have wide arthritic feet with bunions and hammertoes. After a fall injuring a foot, my usual walking shoes hurt. My ankles hurt and would roll while walking. With my Moab2 boots I am able to complete my daily walks and feel secure with almost no ankle pain. The wide toe box does not bother my hammer toes or bunions at all. The boots are easy to get on and off. I am so happy with this purchase.
