great shoe!Been a Merrell fan for years ... the Moab Ventilator is my go-to shoe in the cold weather months. But I wanted a lighter weight shoe for the warmer months and tried the new Moab Speed and am very happy with it. It has lots of cushioning, it feels right on my feet and I can already tell it will do the job comfortably and with support on my daily walks. My only issue was with the sizing .... I always wear a 91/2 in my Moabs but needed to get a size 10 for this new model. Between the toebox not being as high as my other Moabs and all the extra cushioning, my feet were crowded in my usual size and I was glad I exchanged my purchase for the larger size. Happy with my new shoes!

A shoe for every occasion!After having ankle replacement surgery I needed a shoe that would work for my PT, my hikes to get me back on the trail, and ironically for work. I teach at a military school and on my feet all day. I am an honorary COL in the army and could not wear my uniform shoe for several months. These solid black hike shoes fit the bill as uniform dress is strict in the army. They fit perfectly, gave me a lot of standing and walking support, and as mentioned I used them for PT. What a great shoe! I love them. Healing quickly but they are still my go to shoe for on the walking trail.

had to return ... did not fit, too smallhad to return these shoes ... i have another pair of this exact model & size that I bought last year that i love & fit me perfectly (I am still wearing them regularly). i wanted to buy a second pair before mine wore out so i ordered these in the same size. but the fit is completely different ... they are now narrower, shorter in length & the toebox seems lower too. they were horribly uncomfortable so i returned them. by the way, i then ordered the Moab Flight and they fit just right & i love them! so if you hate the fit of the Speed, try the Flight, you might like those better - they seemed to be much roomier.

Great trail shoe!I am prone to blisters and I recently tried this shoe on in a store and was mesmerized with the comfort. I went on a 9.3 rocky hike in the Whites with this shoe and I didn't even need to break them in and ended with no blisters. I followed that hike up with a longer hike and they still exceeded my expectations. I do wish these were waterproof, but after dunking one foot in a brook and soaking my foot---they still treated me well! I see they have the same shoe in Gore-Tex, but one color available! Make more color options Merrill :)

Just what I was looking for!I was looking for a pair of trail runners after a gruelling hike in an old pair of treadless running shoes. my hiking boots were too heavy to be my first choice and I wanted something that would protect my feet from rough terrain. These shoes were comfortable right out of the box. Initially they felt a little loose in the heel but once I laced them up all of the way, they snugged up nicely. These shoes offer nice protection with the rock plate in the sole but are also surprisingly light weight and comfortable. I've been on a handful of hikes including an overnight trip and Ive had no problems.

Simply the Best!I have been a Moab fan for years. I recently bought the Moab Speed to replace a pair with that still looked great but had many miles on them. The Speed has the same excellent fit, arch support, and “straight out of the box” comfort as my old pair with the added benefit of having a footbed with a more “cushiony” feel to it. I absolutely love them!

Favorite Hiking Shoe!Last week i went on a two day backpack in western north carolina. We went to John’s Rock. The first few miles of the hike were great, while most of my attention was focused on the weight of my pack I couldn’t help but notice how comfortable these shoes were. They were perfect for jumping from stone to stone, stepping over roots and even hiking slightly up a rock. These shoes were incredibly light weight. After summiting to the top of Johns rock the hike and weather went dramatically down-hill. It was storming. At first the puddles were small enough to maneuver around and I even made a comment to one of my friends that my feet were completely dry. but by about 4 miles the puddles covered the entire path. you could not go around them. as i walked through the puddles i thought about writing this review because these shoes were outstanding. the hike back was muddy but my feet did not have to suffer the consequences. i love how these shoes are breathable and do not feel or look like a heavy hiking boot.i also like how they do not go all the way up my ankle. next summer i will be going on a three week long backpack in california. These shoes will definitely come along for the adventure. I strongly recommend these shoes for both short, simple hikes and difficult, uphill trails.

Extra extra wide widthWide width adds another size to your shoe so size down. I unfortunately didn’t realize this until I wore them once and now can’t return them. Even with a thicker sock they are way too big. I’ll go back to wearing mens shoes for the extra width. I’m a solid size 10 always and could benefit from wide width but with these I could have easily gotten a 9. I guess it serves me right for buying shoes online by seeing an ad instead of trying them on first in a store! Really bummed to have a brand new pair of shoes I can’t wear for the money spent on these :(
