Product Reviews
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sharp looking but not a cold weather coat Love the look of the coat but I'm honestly disappointed in its warmth. This is just as warm as a couple of light weight polar fleeces. A Good down coat should reflect heat as soon as you have it on for a couple minutes indoors, I can wear this inside and not feel heat. I work a lot outside, and was hoping to just wear this with a smart wool undershirt and my very expensive arc Terex shell over it, but I have to wear several more layers just to feel warm in 20° weather. This product is falsely advertise as 850 Fill, it's paperthin and should be advertised as a very light jacket for cool weather not cold. I should have returned it and paid $100 more for the Western mountaineering down jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light heavyweight So light I use it for winter running. So warm it has replaced most of my coats (and I have spent a lot on coats...trying to get it right). This 7 ounce gem is 3 season and then some. Under my wind/rain proof shell, I've got the entire year covered, and living in Alaska means a jacket has to perform some real work. Bye, bye mountain of outerwear! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite jacket EVER! I'm in love with my Mountain Hardware jacket! It feels like wearing nothing at all, it's so light! Crazy warm for the weight! Happy with a base layer at 20°! I was a little concerned about how shiny the black is, but I think it adds some life to plain black! Love love love this jacket! Rated 4 out of 5 by from Legit I ordered this on sale honestly wondering if I was getting the real product. And it arrived so quickly! I tested it out during the straggling winter months of the Midwest and it definitely provides some great insulation. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the many other reviews that the armpits fit tighter (I ordered a small) but hopefully not to the point of extreme discomfort. The rest of the fit is great (and a medium would definitely have been to large around the belly). Can't wait to bring it along with me in the mountains this summer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm jacket I wore this jacket at night in Big Sky, Montana last week. An extremely warm and comfortable jacket. I did size up and was glad to have the little extra room. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid choice Overall good, feels very light and soft. Keeps you surprisingly warm for how light it is. The only downsides are that the zipper is loud and the jacket discolors very easily. I got the green color and the wrists, elbows, and neck are already slightly discolored after less than 1 months of wear and I didn't get it dirty or sweat in it. It's not very noticeable but makes me wish I'd gotten the black.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cannot live without it This jacket is light as air but very warm, and windproof. I live in San Francisco where the weather goes from sunny and warm to windy, foggy, and cool and you always need layers. This is light enough that I don't mind carrying it around all day "just in case." In actual cold weather (as opposed to SF "cold") it's a perfect layer. Ideal also for camping/backpacking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit, loving the color combo Initial review: great, love the fit. I’m 5’6” and 140lbs and a medium fits great. Love the army green color! It’s too warm to really test right now, but I’ll review again in 2 months after taking it backpacking in the Rocky Mountains. my husband has the men’s ghost whisperer and is OBSESSED, so of course, I had to try it out too.

Is this jacket machine washable?

Asked by: carmella
Hey there, General care instructions from Mountain Hardwear are below: To machine wash, first zip up all zippers, attach all Velcro, and turn your garment inside out. Only use a front-loading machine, with cold water on a gentle setting. Use a minimum amount of a mild powder soap or special down soap (available at outdoor stores). Use at least two rinse cycles to get all of the soap out of the garment. When moving your garment from washer to dryer, do so by carrying it from the bottom. Tumble dry in a large, commercial dryer with low heat. The dryer must be large enough for the garment to flop around freely. Drying could take several hours, and your garment should be checked often to be sure it isn't overheated. As it dries, look for clumps of wet down and gently shake to redistribute the down. When laundering your down jacket or parka, don't: use a top-loading washing machine use a liquid soap or detergent use your home dryer (they have been known to melt holes in fabric) lift your garment from one end when wet (lift the entire thing from underneath) dry out in the sun (UV can damage nylon)

I have the white 800 and it has what appears to be black feathers throughout the coat. Why?

Asked by: Frannie Pants
Hi there Frannie Pants, That is a good question. The Ghost Whisperer jacket is filled with 800 fill RDS (Responsible Down Standard) certified down. The down comes from ducks and geese, and as you know, not all ducks and geese have white feathers. Some darker feathers can be mixed in, and this is why you are seeing darker feathers throughout the jacket. If you have more questions or concerns, please reach out to us via phone (844.833.6921) or live chat. Hope that helps!
