Rated 3 out of 5 by from A lot of improvement needed - not practical For what the name indicates (Patrol), I would not recommend. For recreational? I still would not recommend. There are better designed, much more practical ski packs. The two things you should consider: 1.) will this be your primary work pack? If so, I'd recommend to not buy this pack (5 of 5 Pros that I know so far would not recommend) 2.) you SHOULD buy this pack IF you will primarily be using it for the purpose of carrying more than avg weight for long durations, and not plan on taking it on/off a lot. For the occasional overnighter (or two), this would be an awesome (and relatively expensive) pack. Pros: carries weight very well, high quality material Cons: 1. The brain sags no matter what you do, and leaves the top access filled with snow constantly (you have to warranty it and get it sewed on). All of us have this problem with the exception of one who had his sent back in and sewed on; 2. not practical at all for taking on and off multiple times a day like Patrollers do. Also, very awkward on a full chair. The pack demands too much space due to the bulky waist and shoulder system. 3. Accessing gear is generally too much of a process for pros. Avy gear pocket is okay with some shoving of the probe. Helmet stash is pretty poor and basically serves little purpose to the pack. Back access requires a 3-step process (unbuckle two shoulder buckles, unvelcro a large strap, THEN unzip both sides...then do it all in reverse to secure it back up. I would say it's not ideal in high alpine terrain with quick changing variable winds and weather. Their other gear is solid, but they're lacking on a practical ski pack above 30L so far.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs improvement I generally agree with the above reviews 2 major complaints 1) the brain (sack on top) sags and doesn't really work right. Even with some tinkering it doesn't quite work. 2) The back access takes too long and too many steps to get in an out of the back. are you providing a solution to the brain not working?
