Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Real Deal I have had my Stein on a couple shorter trips. This pack is all the best from the old Dana packs and has more modern features. The Stein is built well but not over built like the other models which keeps it lighter. The hip belt is comfortable and the shoulder harness fits well. I like the adjustable frame. The sleeping bag compartment could be a hair bigger for a winter bag but hey, I can make it work. I take good care of my gear and my last pack of this quality (Dana) lasted nearly 20 years of professional outdoor use and sold it for darn near what I bought it for. I got the Stein because I don't need the volume of an Astraplane anymore and wanted the best pack on the market. Mystery Ranch is the real deal. Skip the gimmicks these packs are the best.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rides beautifully, feels 10 lbs lighter I tried out the Mystery Rach Glacier but the features and pack weight were more than what I needed. This was the perfect step down— lighter, cheaper, fewer pockets. It rides so well that the pack weight feels 10lbs lighter than what it weighs. My only gripe (hence the 4 stars) is that the pack top hangs weigh back off the top unless you’ve overstuffed it. The top of EG container, too, could use a roll top strap for lighter trips when it isn’t filled. Lastly, it’s just crazy durable. I’ve thrown it around crags and campsights, walked through thorns, and not. A scratch. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid This pack is killer, I seem to push it past capacity every week and it still carries better than any pack I’ve ever had. Wish it came in a 70 liter version, as the suspension can definitely handle larger loads than the body can hold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack The Stein 62 is a great pack. Picked up this pack mainly for use in winter in Colorado, and I couldn't be happier. First of all the quality of mystery ranch is too notch! The Stein 62 is also very functional and user friendly. I love the organizational features(pockets, daisy chain, top and side loading) the front pull hip belt is awesome. For snowshoeing, climbing, and overnight trips this is just what the doctor ordered. That's just the winter side of things, summer use will be weeklong trips easily with great comfort. If this pack is on your radar, just get it, you won't regret it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very solid pack I was thoroughly impressed by the build quality on this pack. The zippers are smooth, the stitching is solid and the space inside is cavernous. The pack color is not nearly as bright. It's more of a burnt orange color [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Carries well, too many design flaws This review box gives you NO room to do a real review. The top flap of the top compartment does not cover the top of the main pack when the pack is full. AND the main compartment doesn’t cinch closed. The fact that you can’t cinch the main pack plus the fact that the top flap doesn’t cover the top of the pack is a terrible design. The various pouches are unfunctional. If you put something in them, it takes away space in the main compartment. I can fit water bottles in the bottom two holders on the outside, but not if the pack is full. The stretchy material is too tight. I could not fit my Crocs with the pack full. There are two zippered compartments on the back of the pack. They aren't pouches so you can’t fit something bulky in them if the pack is full because it takes away volume from the main pack. The top two-hump compartment has a lot of room but it looks stupid and is bulky. It is hard to get items in the section that is against your neck so that it doesn’t touch your head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome pack Mystery Ranch has yet to make a pack that didn’t function exactly as intended. This one is no exception. Light weight and plenty of room for living the life outside of doors. Love the color.
