Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality material I bought this bag to use as a carry-on while traveling for work. The first thing I noticed was that quality of the material it's very thick nice "canvas". I got the smallest size and have to say I can comfortably fit an extended weekends worth of clothes plus computer and hygiene products in it. The straps pack away very nicely and keeps it a clean look. The zippers are nice and strong and I am not concerned about them breaking. The only complaint I had about the bag is I believe it would be better without the bottom pocket at all and just keep the top (still a great bag) if you fill both the top and bottom pockets you have no room in the main cavity to pack anything else. Highly recommend

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mystery Ranch makes the best duffel out there I own a lot of gear, and a lot of it is Mystery Ranch gear. I love all of their products but felt seriously let down by the Cube Master duffels, which are let down by some strange hardware choices. Enter the Mission Duffel. This thing is phenomenal. The construction is rock-solid (as you'd expect from a Mystery Ranch bag). The materials are great, and I particularly love the "heathered" twill-like look of the fabric on these bags, which is also waterproof. And unlike the Cube Master, the D-rings and other hardware on this bag work flawlessly. This is also a really cleverly designed bag, with some great features that set it apart even from outstanding competitors like the Patagonia Black Hole and The North Face Base Camp duffels. At each end of the bag are two zippered pockets: one bigger one at the "bottom" end of the bag (when worn as a backpack—more on that later) for shoes to keep them away from clothes, and another at the "top" end of the bag for stashing books, toiletries, or other stuff you need to get to quickly. The horseshoe pocket is perfect: the bag keeps its shape when empty and opens wide for easy packing. There are also two zippered mesh pockets on the lid for storing little items, which is a great addition. In short: lots of organization options, tons of storage. One thing that really sets this bag apart from its competitors are the backpack straps. Unlike the Patagonia and The North Face duffels, where backpack straps feel like an afterthought, the Mystery Ranch team clearly led with that feature, because the straps are crazy-comfortable and the bag carries really nicely on your back, especially if you pack it intelligently and put the heavy stuff close to your back. If you need a travel companion that absolutely will not let you down, this is it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sadly, Not good enough to keep... I have a few recommendations that would make this bag better and would have helped me keep the bag: 1) need removable load lifters like the vanquest skycap 46 2) needs side grab handles for when you mount/dismount the bag using the backpack straps as these bags loaded up can be too hard to manage with just the top grab handle and reaching all the way around for the front duffle handle 3) smaller top pocket to make it better for easy grab items while traveling, there’s already the shoe/dirty laundry pocket on the bottom, don’t need two of these sizes pockets 4) add some way of attaching a water bottle on the exterior which almost everyone needs while traveling

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Very durable, well made pack. The shoulder straps alone are reason to buy. Load it up, hook up the straps, and get moving. Buy it; you won't be sorry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good bag with option of backpack carry. I have the 40L and like it. I would change a couple things though. I would add a grab handle on the shoulder strap side. I find this facilitates situations where you are not ready to put it on your shoulder but want the bag in the correct position to do so. I would make the upper expandable pocket smaller so little things don't drift to the bottom and get lost. I have safety pinned mine up so it is smaller. The large one on the bottom is fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My first MR - definitely not my last! I bought the black 55L last year in Tokyo after months of online research about the best duffel. It's turned into an irreplaceable component of all my international travels. I go abroad 6+ times every year with various airlines and packages (from full service long-haul with check-in suitcases, to regional low-cost-carriers with no check-in). Regardless of the destination and consequent luggage I take with me, this duffel always comes along. Most airlines in Asia have a maximum carry-on limitation of 115cm (L+W+H) in dimension. The 55L Mission Duffel blows this out of the water at about 152cm(79x41x32cm) however you can fold/mash this into any luggage-limitation moulds they may have at the check-in counter(you may have to take some items out if it's full). Past that, this has always fit into the cabin of every airplane I've been on despite often being packed to the brim. The volume is perfect for a week-long trip anywhere, and the bottom compartment is perfect for any dirty clothes/shoes. The liners on the inside leave you with plenty of room for organization with good visibility as soon as you unzip. The only criticisms I have are: -If you are going to use this bag as much as I do, I recommend buying a supplemental shoulder strap pad for when you carry this as a duffel on the shoulder. It seems the R&D money stopped short of the strap(backpack straps are fine though) -I wish the compartment at the top of the bag wasn't so big, as you sometimes need to fish out your passport/change/keys/headphones/battery charger/etc., and you have to go elbow-deep and out-of-sight to get it. That said, this is an absolutely fantastic pack with a clean design. I hope I never have to buy another duffel again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Bought this for a week long vacation, and is now my go to weekend bag. May be a bit small for winter trips if you have a lot of bulky clothing. Carried onto planes no problem. Love the number of pockets for organization. Backpack straps are very comfortable. While on vacation we flew with our climbing gear in a large duffel, and I used this bag for a daypack at the crag. Roomy enough for my climbing gear as well as my wife's and food and water and clothes and guide books. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome duffle from the ranch This bag has all the great quality of a far more expensive duffle. Mystery ranch makes sure all of the zippers, seams, and fabric are ready for a beating! I have been actively using this as a weekly travel bag and throw it around quite a bit. So far there are no signs of wear or stress. I would highly recommend this bag for anyone looking for a daily gym duffle or travel bag. I would even go as far as to say this is ready for some serious outdoor adventures. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
