The Mystery Ranch Urban Assault 21L Pack is a modern daypack built for the urban commuter. With its sleek, lightweight design, this pack prioritizes the essentials over flashy features. The unique 3-zip design allows you to access and deploy gear quickly, making it a great everyday carry or bugout bag option. There's a zippered pocket on the top for keeping daily items handy, and the main compartment features a 15" laptop sleeve and two smaller zippered mesh pockets. You'd be missing out if you just took it around in the city, though. This pack is rugged and ready for day hiking, mountain biking, airline travel, and pretty much whatever else you throw at it.

This bag is outstandingHave had the bag for 6 months. I have taken it all over the world from the Middle East to a motorcycle trip across the us. It fits a ton more than it should, great organization. Super comfortable. It’s a perfect travel companion. I can’t think of a more perfect bag, when you need a backpack, this is it. It’s kind of minimalist but with a lot of storage and features that normally requires buying a much larger bag than 18L. Inside pockets are useful but small, straps are comfy. Can easily fit 1 13” MacBook, can squeeze a second laptop with still room for tablet/reader and a mini bag full of cables...and a MEd kit...and a couple other random EDC items.

Everything Proof!Bought this thinking I made a mistake cause it was too expensive for a backpack. I was so wrong. This is way better than most backpacks I was looking at from other brands. Quality is on point! The construction feels almost bomb proof. Fits all my equipment for light duty SAR and any other volunteer gigs I do with my local fire department. It's now my go to "Bug Out Bag" that stays under my bed. I love that I can just open this bag wide open to access any equipment I need on the bottom. I have no doubt that the Urban Assault will withstand all the drops, cuts, and scuffs it will see. If you're looking for equipment type bags for emergency personal or first responders, get a Mystery Ranch bag. Top notch!

AwesomeI've had this pack for a few months. It is somewhat minimalist but can realistically work for a wide variety of needs. I have this black one and it does appear a touch tactical in person but not over the top. It helds my 15" laptop and all the acessories just fine on a trip to Colorado. The Fit, I'm 5' 8" is perfect but I pull the straps tight and use the sternum strap. I quit looking for a bag when I got this. Thankfully a store locally carried it and I could try it on. Awesome pack. Highly Recommend

Traveled around Europe, North Africa, and a Small Part of AsiaI went on about a 3 month journey all over Europe, part of North Africa, and part of Asia with this bag. It went everywhere from London to Morocco to Istanbul. The most durable bag I have ever owned! While I was staying in Spain, sometimes I would visit other cities or countries for a few days and could fit clothes for about 5 days, my laptop, electronic supplies, toiletries, and my passport all in this bag. I never needed an extra suitcase. Now that I am back it the States, I use this bag everyday to my university. I have also used it as my only travel bag when I've had to go on domestic flights and have be gone for about 3-4 days. This bag is amazing and has survived some pretty intense conditions. I highly recommend this bag! Worth every penny!!

Saved my lifeI live in Asia. I got in an accident a few weeks ago on my scooter going at 35MPH. Had this pack on my back. I landed on the pack and it literally saved my life. Only had some scratch and bruises on my elbow. The pack itself is still in good shape and totally good for me to keep carrying around. Such an awesome quality.

Efficient design + great simple aestheticsAfter years of using designer, leather shoulder bags or the ubiquitous Longchamp large shoulder bag for work, I switched over to the functional, ergonomic, practical Urban Assault. Its aesthetic appeals to the outdoorsy side of me. As a backpack, it is kinder on my shoulder/spine. It’s design—- easy access to bottom of pack, top compartment, laptop sleeve—- make riffling through the bottomless unstructured pit of the Longchamp a distant memory. Plus, when Covid19 hit, I decided to go with function over high fashion. Fits my hospital scrubs, macbook air, extra n95, hand sanitizers, coffee thermos perfectly.
Do wish that there were an outside waterbottle/coffee thermos holder/pouch. But Its absence is just a minor inconvenience. Love the color scheme.

Little conUsed the pack for a half a year. One minor thing that can be fixed is a different design for the clips that are used for the chest strap connecting from the packs strap. I find my bicep area getting poked by the little "hook point" from the clip all the time. It can partially be avoided if you set your chest strap higher but that all comes down to comfort of the user.
I do also own the Pintler as my hunting pack and run into the same problem.

Withstood dog attackThis backpack literally saved my life. I am a 25 year old female, 5'3", 125lbs. I use this pack for my EDC to and from the university where I teach. One evening I was getting out of my car and my neighbor's 135lb german shepherd lept the fence and came at me teeth bared, growling and snarling --- just like in the police TV shows. I used this bag to beat the dog back and keep the dog off of me. If I had not had this bag with me, I would likely still be in the hospital, or worse. Several hours later after things had calmed down, I checked the contents of the bag. Everything in the bag was completely unharmed and my MacBook Pro was still in pristine condition. There were no holes or scuffs on the fabric, everything was just as it was before. This bag is beyond Excellent. I recommend it to everyone I know, especially after the experience I had. Mystery Ranch is the best of the best and I'm so glad I took the leap and got this bag.

Getting Your Size Waist Circumference: Measure around your waist just above the top of your hip bones (roughly two fingers below your belly button). Torso: Use a tailors tape measure or string and have a friend measure between the bony bump at the base of your neck (C7 vertebra) to the spot on your spine that is just behind your belly button.
In Between Sizes? If you are between sizes on the waist belt, Mystery Ranch recommends you size down. If you are between sizes on the yoke or if your measurements fall outside standard sizing, please contact Mystery Ranch Customer Service.
