Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great quality, few design flaws I've had the chance to wear these new bibs a few days in the back country, pretty slim fitting, im 160 5'6, they are a little snug with no room for more than a base layer, unfortunatly the one pocket on the leg is almost usless because anything in it just makes the pants tighter on the leg, and the full leg zipper could use a 3rd zipper to alow for breathing without having to remove your jacket and backpack to get at the top zipper that goes half way up your back.. can't beat gortex pro for weather protection and durability but for the money they should have put more into consideration on the design of these bibs

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems like a home run right out of the box. I haven't had a chance to try these pants out yet, except around the house while my wife teases me, but they fit perfectly (5'10, 210lbs Size L). I have had a hard time finding bib pants that fit in the hips and waist but weren't acres too long in the inseam. These bibs get the dimensions absolutely perfect. Form fitting with stretch in the lower coupled with enough room on top to get a solid base and mid layer underneath. The right leg pocket is not ideal for an avalanche beacon. Too constricting when taking long strides, but no big deal as I don't typically place my beacon there anyway. Cannot wait to put these through the ringer in the backcountry. Bring on the snow!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Id stay far away from this $700 looks good on paper pant I ski tour 3-4 times a week in this pant and was planning on using them to bag some 14ers and major ski descents. During some resort skiing as I was laying down a big carve, this pant exploded in my crotch. Im sorry but I bought the size I was supposed to be in according to the size chart and cant ski in them. Infact the size I bought was so tight I could not do a big stepping motion with them. They were restrictive to the point I expended energy touring as they resisted my strides. These are for ice climbing and alpinism. I am not a super flexible person but I am more flexible than these pants

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Had to return, so sad. I had my eye on these for a long time and finally purchased them. A full zip bib is a must for me and my old North Face bibs finally died. My excitement was quickly diminished though when I tried them on only to find that I couldn't bend my legs past 90 degrees without the crotch putting a vise move on my man parts! I am 5'8" and weight 145lbs. I have chicken legs and wear SMALL in all of my other OR pants. Also, the back of the bib has a ton of extra fabric that would just bunch up behind a pack and no way to adjust for that. I'm like, "what is the purpose of this, so I can put a giant puffy inside of my bibs?" I don't get it. It's a very weird design. Just put a full length zip on the Hemispheres bib or change the cut of the Archangel! Not to worry, I will always love OR and will continue to be a walking billboard for your products. Just not those because bibs shouldn't hurt. :(

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Initial fit impression These bib were purchased to replace a pair of Hemisphere bibs, which replaced an vintage pair of TNF Mountain Bibs (from the days of the half moon drop seat design). The Hemisphere was for a 6'-3", 185lb build, voluminous in the torso. Far from the sleek fit shown in the model images, I swam in it, even with a puffy tucked inside. The Archangel, which somehow takes the Hemisphere's MSRP to even new heights (Stratosphere may have been the rejected name for these new bibs), was thankfully improved in this regard. The torso now is "about right" if you plan to have at least one puffy underneath (or are yourself "puffy"...or just not svelte). To help the fit, however, very low key belt tabs (in a nicely played angling of nylon guides) are included. The rest of the bibs are lean and "athletic" in cut. The legs will still (for me) allow an insulating layer beneath. The articulation is allllllmost right. High steps? Check. Plopping down on your butt (ala belay seat/snowboard sit)? Check. Getting this dialed does, however, require the shoulder straps to be adjusted well upward. Not a bad thing, as the quality of their elastic is very good. The flaw in movement is, IME, lateral stemming . Despite the (moderate) give/stretch of the fabric, the crotch/waist cut isn't quite there for allowing unfettered wide/high steps. For straight forward steps (e.g., moving up rope on etriers) they are smooth and free-moving. Wear areas on cuffs are handled well from all initial impression. The two pockets are fine (why not just add the other "hand warmer" pocket on the left thigh, OR?"). Branding is very low key. Length is about right (even once the shoulder straps are cinched up to reduce crotch sag/binding). They're very light/compact (when I felt the box UPS dropped off I wondered if these were, in fact, the Archangels. My only other niggling remark is that not including a belt seems odd (or at least recommending one). Time to find one, as I will be keeping these bibs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bibs, nearly perfect I bought these bibs for work, more precisely big mammal capture by helicopterin the north. They were great: flexible with their stretch panels, good wind protection and kept the warmth in the torso area since higher, robust and breathable. I am 6'2" 190 pds and they Large fit great in order to put some synthetic insulated pants underneath. There was only a couple of minor details that prevented it from being perfect: no left side pocket (why? Very useful for work), the suspender attachment is a hook and at the end of the day of physically immobilizing big mammals, one of them was always unhooked, and the fasteners of the suspenders don't stay at their place / height. Wasn't for these minor details, they would be perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great versatile Bibs I was really happy with this purchase once I figured out proper sizing( I wear a custom knee brace).I went a size up from my usual and it worked out well. I ve used them for ski touring, Search and Rescue tasks, resort skiing and walking my dog. They breathe well and are flexible while protecting me from the elements. I will combine them with the OR Refuge pants while waiting at staging area or in the Alpine. Good job OR!
