Product Reviews
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice shirt but material is NOT durable I own 7 astroman shirts. Great shirt if it would hold up like it used to. I've had the l/s since 2019 and it looks terrible at this point. The original astroman s/s from 2016-2018 have been worn a ton and still look great. The updated (since 2019) super lightweight, silky and stretchy material feels nice but does not last even 1/2 as long. It pills within a short time and then starts to lose shape - sagging around the pockets and sleeves and stitching. It looks so bad now my wife doesn't want me to wear it. It's been worn a lot but not enough to look like this. I'd rather have the slightly thicker original material than have shirts that have to be thrown out after a few years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great in the hot, collar could use work Super stretchy and comfortable. Wore this out sailing in 90 degree weather and was very pleased except for one thing. The collar like most of the rest of the shirt is soft and stretchy; it's prone to laying flat. It would have been a great feature on a sunshirt to have a collar with a lot of structure in it so you can you can flip it up to keep the sun off your neck. I once got a work shirt in Australia that had a double-folded collar that you could pop twice for extra protection between your shirt and hat. that would make this a six-star shirt.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Emotional rollercoaster. You've broken my heart, Astroman. I was in love with these shirts. Utterly in love. In fact, I'm pretty sure I wrote a rave review of it just last week. However, the shirt is mysteriously pilling in one spot. Also, on the green fatique short-sleeve version of this shirt, I already have a run in the shirt, the same way a woman would get a run in a nylon stocking. Just got these shirts last month; very anti-climactic and disappointing. The shirt is an amazing shirt, if it only would hold up structurally. Doesn't look like they will.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks good, fabric is sub standard Though the design is elegant And the material snappy the good looks of the shirt only lasts in that condition for a couple of sessions The shirt quickly pills and the material fades in its luster just after a couple of wearings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great lightweight sun shirt that needs a delicate hand [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is one of the most comfortable sun shirts I own. I like the fit, and find the features great for around town use. I also use sun shirts while working outdoors as a field biologist. For work, I would prefer zippered pockets to increase the utility of the shirt. This material is thin and lightweight, and the snap buttons are not very well reinforced. I unsnap the shirt by pulling on the snaps or prying with my fingernail instead of pulling on the material to open the snap so as not to rip the shirt.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for me. So, I was going to reserve my opinion because a lot of it is personal preference. Since OR has emailed me twice asking for a review, I will give my honest opinion. First a little background. I bought several button up hiking shirts this summer/early fall to try and find a replacement for my Silver Ridge that I used on the AT. I was not a fan. It was light weight, silky feeling, and packed down pretty small. The Astroman is very similar, but feels like a higher quality material and has a better cut. Having said that, the cut is not great. It has snap buttons, which I love but the material bunches up between the top two buttons and looks wonky on me. The main thing I didn't like about the Silver Ridge was the clingy material got swampy real quick. The Astroman has the same problem, but because it is Nylon vs. Polyester it takes longer to dry. I know it's advertised as "breathable" but it's not. It's also supposed to "wick" sweat away but the material can't wick at a faster rate than it will dry. You are gonna sweat in any shirt but this will hold it in and will take longer to dry out than comparable options. It will hold sweat and also hold BO. On the pro side, it should be more durable but I'll never know because I only wore it to work and came home to change it at lunch because it was not comfortable for me. A lot of people like this shirt though. So, maybe you will too..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My go to outdoor shirt! This is my go to shirt for recreating and teaching outside, I can roll the sleeves easily and it's light and comfortable. I also love them for travel, yes them, I have three. They dry quickly and I have done a couple sink hand washes on the road. I'm 6'3" 277 lbs and the XXL is comfortable for me, I could loose some weight to loosen it up around my stomach. All and all a great shirt for us bigger hikers.
