The Outdoor Research Men's Equinox Pant is an all-purpose pant for outdoor activity. Hike through tall grass without worry of your lower legs getting scraped up. When the weather heats up or you've made it to an area with less brush, zip off to shorts and there's more adventure to be had. Lightweight, durable, and water-resistant, so even a light rain beads up and sheds right off, before it has the chance to soak in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smart looking and functional I've been wearing Ferrosi pants for a view years, but I wanted a pair of convertibles, so I tried the Equinox. After a month of wearing them, I must say I prefer these pants to the Ferrosi. The material is slightly stiffer and less stretchy than the Ferrosi, which makes for a better look, but the performance is still very decent for an outdoor pant. Great for hiking, not as good for activities where that dynamic Ferrosi stretch is required. The zippered legs work fine and the zipper slider is cleverly hidden. I wear a 34" inseam in the Ferrosi, which is a hair too long, but the Equinox fit me great in the 32".

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loved the old pants and these are great as well except... I am a Whitewater Raft guide in Northern California, I have been wearing these pants and the Astroman shirt while on the river instead of getting burned or slathering on gobs of sunscreen. The old style of these and the new version work great for this is they are lightweight, stretchy and dry very quickly. My only complaint about these as while there are belt loops they don't come with a belt like the old ones did. May seem minor but another thing to buy, and keep track of, not to mention any belts you buy will be much thicker and not dry out as quickly as the thin belts of the old pants.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Top of the line convertible hiking pants! These pants are very comfortable, functional, lightweight with easy to remove leg bottoms. I cannot attest as to their durability as I have only worn them twice. The sizing is very accurate. I like them very much so why only 4 stars? 1. There is no lightweight belt included anymore. The drawstring is not a good replacement for the belt. It is not only difficult to find a quality lightweight belt but it is another expense which is like a price increase. Please include a decent belt in the future and these would be 5 stars. 2. There are only 3 colors to choose from. Overall these are very nice quality pants and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a convertible hiking pant.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OR- be more consistent on waist sizes! I like the features of these pants... comfortable, look good, lightweight, they block wind adequately, well-designed pockets (rear could use zippers or buttons, but whatever), good selection of colors. As my headline implies, it's always a gamble with OR when it comes to waist size (length sometimes too). I own several OR shorts and pants, I always order the same waist size. Some are loose, others right, others too snug. Goldilocks and the 3 bears. These are loose, I just use a belt, luckily there are loops, not a huge deal. Other than that these are great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good pants, but tight fight for larger legs Seems like it would be great if it fit, but was just too tight around the quads/hamstrings for me. Unfortunately the zipper loop where the lower part comes off to convert to shorts defeats the purpose of the movement mirroring stretch at that point, because the zipper can't stretch to accommodate larger legs. If you have regular size legs, I'd still recommend it. If you have bigger legs, go for a "regular" fit pair like the Ferrosi pants

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Thighs too tight OR changed the design on these pants and made the thighs tight. These were my go to pants for my wildlife field research work, but now they are only good for a night on the town. With tight thighs, you feel every branch or shrub that you brush up against and they stick to your skin when they get wet. I feel OR went for style over functionality on the redesign. I feel I have average or below average size legs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A little bit of an adjustment I ordered a pair of these pants a year ago and a 34" waist fit perfectly. So, I ordered the same size again and the "new and improved" pant now has a 3" gap at my waist. I call CS and they say that they resized everything to match current industry trends. I had to order a size down, so a 32" size pant fits my 36" actual waist. Sounds nuts. It fits though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Absolute favorite adventure pants These pants are so amazing no matter what you are doing. They are stylish And refined enough To wear to work and rugged enough for multi day backpacking trips!! I can prove each statement because I have worn them doing both!! I love these pants! The waste snap is an awesome upgrade from other snaps and the zippered legs are so we're designed I don't think twice to zip them off. The construction is solid and the sizing is accurate. I have two pair Currently and I plan on getting a couple more soon! These pants will not disappoint!!
