The Outdoor Research Men's Foray Jacket is a waterproof jacket for exploring in the rain. Hikes and backpacking trips don't have to be cancelled just because of a little weather, just make sure to bring your GORE-TEX jacket along for waterproof, breathable protection. You stay dry and comfortable, the rain can do its thing. Vent easily, even while wearing a pack with the help of TorsoFlo Venting, opening the jacket at the sides from hem-to-bicep. When the rain has cleared, stuff it into the left hand pocket and clip it to your harness or tuck it into your pack.

Product Reviews
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fatal Design Flaw Rather disappointed: I passed on less expensive rain jackets for the Gortex in the Foray. My goal was a complete waterproof jacket for canoe camping in the back country. Before I even got there, I took it for a walk around my neighborhood in a moderate rain. Both hand pockets had water pooling in them and my phone got swamped. Although the front and chest pocket zippers are waterproof, the hand pocket zippers are not. The fabric over them was not enough to keep the water out. (And yes, I made sure the zippers were tightly closed.) Why bother having waterproof Gortex material without waterproof zips? Sad, especially for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well except... I've used this for hiking and it has worked well for that in terms of breathability and keeping light rains at bay. It's a great jacket to take from hiking or camping right into the office. However, it wasn't long lasting and under the last heavy Midwest rains the water seeped through and I was prety disappointed. Normally my OR gear holds out for a long time but this one was barely used in any tough environments and just let too much water in. I would still recommend it for the fit, feel, look and general good wear for outdoor use, unless you are in a heavy rain. COuld be that this particular jacket didn't hold up as long as expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multiuse Rain Layer Love this jacket. The fit is trim without restricting my ability to layer an insulator underneath. I chose this jacket over other options for the poncho zippers at the side. I love that added functionality. SO SMART. I've worn it in PNW rain through winter and the jacket has been amazing. My only change feedback is that the main zipper has two pulls to allow you to unzip from the bottom when the jacket is zipped up. I don't think this functionality is necessary and the zipper is more frustrating to use. I'd rather just have a single pull on the primary zipper. Great work on this jacket, I'm excited to see how you improve your offerings.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from So so quality Alter only 12 months, and about 25 occasional usages, the inner lining membrane peeled off at the bottom of my waist pocket, leaving a full opening.. I almost lost my car keys , but fortunate enough, the following backpacker yelled aT me.. . I returned the jacket 6 weeks ago for repair and I'm still waiting for a company status. At this price, I expect a trustable jacket with a top notch quality. Outside that, this jacket is vey breathable, especially with the torso zippers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product but try it on first if you can. Bought this for work (MIL). Being an unseasonably hot June I haven't had a chance to use it yet but thought I'd share my observations on sizing. It's cut somewhat odd, the lengths are what you'd expect but the waist is really tight and the body/sleeves are very generously cut. You could probably go a size smaller than normal and have lots of room for layering. I usually run a MD but I went SM and I'm glad, I wouldn't want it any bigger. Not a "slim fit" by any means. As for waterproofing, I bought this because other guys in my unit love this jacket (the last gen) and it holds up decently to hard use, so I'm not concerned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only hardshell you'll ever need The Foray is a great jacket and I have no regrest picking up 3 years ago. It's still serving me perfectly at home or in the hills whether I'm ice climbing, mountaineering, or hiking. Sure it's a little bulkier than the Helium line, but that bulk comes with the benefits of so much venting. The fact you have so much control over the venting is what really makes this jacket perfect,: you can zip the sides; easily open the pit zips; have only the upper section of the main zipper done up, so that there is less faff if you're belaying off a harness. Just a great jacket and I haven't seen a single tear in it so far, despite being around plenty of pointy bits in it's life.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wears Out Quickly As another reader said, the inner lining of the jacket/pockets wears out too quickly. I DID in fact lose my keys. After the first repair, it happened again, and I lost my AirPods. Now, I'm four weeks into an insane return process which leaves me questioning this brand. Other than that I loved the jacket, and I'm obviously going to have to replace it with the same jacket (refund process) so I wonder how long that's going to last. The lining simply disintegrated. That's what $200+ gets? Meh.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pass Wetted-out in a light rain the first time that I wore it. I've never owned a rain jacket that failed so miserably on its first wear. If you plan on purchasing this jacket, budget an additional ~$15-20 for a bottle of DWR so that you can finish what OR started.
