Outstanding rec/travel trousers, but improve pockets please!Bought these for travelling in rugged conditions. Wow, are they great!!! Super comfortable but thin lining provides just enough warmth. Exterior is wind-deflecting and rain-resistant. Pant fits well on this tall, slender body. I do have some issues with the pockets. Right side zippered thigh pocket is great. Why not on the left also??? Right/left hip pockets are good, but just a bit too shallow, and they could be redesigned to limit change or pocket knife or pen slipping out when you forget to zip up. I lost a pen this way and almost lost my Swiss knife. So, 5 stars!, even though the pockets do need some serious work.

Great alpine climbing pant5'10, 155 lbs - size small. Awesome pants for alpine climbing. Was looking for more substantial pants than the Ferrosi that would hold up well in caring conditions from sun to snow. They are a bit heavier and are lined with fleece for the extra warmth I needed. The only thing I would change is to remove these word loops on the inner waistband. They can flip up and get in the way/be uncomfortable. Someone told me they are for suspenders but I think this is an excessive design and would never wear these pants with suspenders anyway. Another thing I'm OK with but may bother some is there is no back pocket. I wear 28-30 waist, usually medium stuff fits me but I'm glad I went with the small as the waist fits perfect.

Better sizing please!!First off I love outdoor research products, huge fan. The feel and look of the hyak pant are great, I want to make these my favorite pant, but they don't offer a size that will fit!! The waist ranges from (medium) 32.6 to (large) 36! Nothing in between ???? Why not make these in waist sizes like 32,34,36 ect. Had to give the pants to a friend. Just don't get the sizing on some of your gear. I ordered the large because im a 34" but they are too big, and the inseam, yeah about 6" too long.

Happy PantsThe Hyak works well for my backcountry skiing needs. Good lightweight, breathable and warm qualities. I wear one thin Icebreaker tight underneath and it's perfect for climbing on skis and descending. Pockets are good and roomy, especially the side thigh pocket where I keep a camera and a bandanna (it also has a special pocket for a transceiver). I unzip the leg zips so it will fit over my ski boots. The tightening cords that I do not use have a hook retainer inside the leg to keep them tidy. They mostly stay put and out of my way. Removing seems problematic. Only improvement I would make is the addition of a back pocket for a wallet, although that seems rare in these types of pants. I am 5'11" and 165, medium is snug but good, as a soft-shell should fit.

Great design, materials and workmanshipMy only complaint is that the waist is a little snug for a size medium. This is consistent throughout the softshell adventure pants but exact opposite of the lighter Voodoo and Ferossi pants. Sadly the next size larger is way to large in all other respects. I'll loose weight if you guys can bring a medium waist up to 33". On the up side, the standard length inseam is tolerable on a guy with a consistent 30 inch inseam. Slightly baggy but not annoying and probably a benefit if you add bungee cord to the provided eyelets for snowy weather. A great pants in all respects.

Most comfortable pair of pants I ownI've only had these pants for a day but so far they're my new favorite pants. They're so comfortable and fit great, they're a little tight around the thighs but not too bad. I am 6'1 and 200lbs, very little body fat. Just to give you an idea of sizing. I had to return another pair because the thighs were too tight but these aren't overly tight, fitted for sure. They wick away water, definitely water resistant and they break the wind too. I'm very happy with the quality and the feel. The pockets are huge, and the belt loops are really big too which is nice. I'm going to buy these again for sure.

Great Ski Pants!I absolutely love these pants. These are perfect inbounds or ski touring pants. I particularly prefer the trim fit over the regular fit of other pants. The pockets are the right placement and size, including the beacon pocket. I get pretty hot easily so the lighter weight material is great! I only wish they also had size zips.

I'd buy another pair if they offered more sizes .I would love to give these a 5 star rating, the material is as usual great OR material, love the color which sometimes is limited. But, the options on sizes with this pant are seriously limiting, check out the difference between medium and large, no in between. I had to order the large hoping there'd fit, not they did not. Someone taller and bigger than me got a free pair of great pants. Too bad for me.
