Breathes and adapts as advertised. This fabric combination really does move the moisture and adjust to different exertion levels. I love the brighter colours too. I like having the thumb loops for those times when I'm wearing short sleeves underneath and want to seal off the wrist holes more effectively from drafts. The coil zipper is pretty small on the front, we'll see how it holds up. Sizes definitely run one size small. I usually take a medium but I need a large in this. My one complaint is the tightness/limited movement when reaching overhead or up-and-in-front; the seam which runs down the side of the sleeve and body draws tight and limits the Jacket's stretch.

Much different fit from the AscendantI did not use it as it didn't fit. I was looking for a replacement for my beloved Ascendant Hoody. This looked to be similar with a couple upgrades - zip exterior pockets and interior drop pockets. Unfortunately, the cut is completely different from the Ascendant and it doesn't have the upper interior sleeve lining so the sleeves bind when you move. I ordered a large but wear the Ascendant medium. The Refuge Air L is wider but slightly shorter than the Acendant M. Because the sleeves bind, and maybe because of less stretch, the R. A. feels smaller and when I lifted my arm above my head the jacket pulled above my waist. OR please bring back a version of the Ascendant!

Year Round FavoriteI have worn this jacket nearly everyday since January. It's been used while ice climbing, backcountry skiing, resort skiing, rock climbing, working on the house, in a sleeping bag, etc....It's a bit stained now, but going strong and it doesn't even smell bad. I find it to be quite breathable and quick drying, blocks just enough wind, provides great warmth without over heating. It's easily my favorite layer. The greatest downside is the fit. The medium body fits well, however, it's sleeves are short by a few inches and it could use some more space across the shoulders. Luckily, it's so good otherwise that I'm willing to overlook the fit issues. Still it'd be awesome if it fit better...

An excellent jacket! For those who tend to perspire even when the needle drops, this jacket has proved to be one of the more versatile pieces in my kit. The breathability and light insulation result in a near perfect piece of clothing for high output activities in temps ranging from the mid 40s down to the teens if a base layer is worn in tandem. The water repellancy is also admirable and will keep you dry in drizzles or light rain. I am 6'1", 215lbs and the xl is form fitted allowing for a medium or light base layer. The jacket packs nice and small and deploys easily. I highly recommend it!

Disappointed with the performanceI bought the Refuge Air to wear for a variety of sports. But after backcountry skiing in it a couple of times, I have been a bit disappointed with its performance. Already, there is serious abrasion and pilling all over the back from wearing a backpack. Second, there is virtually no water repellency. It absorbs water and wets out very quickly. It's also not as breathable as I'd hoped. On the plus side, it fits well and is very warm. It's a solid mid-layer, but when using it as an outer layer when traveling uphill, I needed to peel it off or sweat it wet.

Turning out to be my everyday Autumn jacketI was amazed at how comfortable this piece is. I bought it strictly for exercise but end up wearing it a lot around town. The shell is soft and not noisy like a lot of pieces and I like how the insulation feels against a shirt or skin. It hasn't been cold enough to wear it running or riding my bike yet so I can't speak for the breathing ability. Based on the fit and feel though, I think it's going to work very well at keeping me from overheating during aerobic activity, while also keeping me warm enough. The large fits me perfectly (5'9 185 fairly fit) and it's not overly baggy. I loved it so much I bought the vest too.

My New Comfort BlanketI am loving my new Refuge Air! It's my new go to layer for everyday use. Since getting it, I've worn it climbing, chopping wood, hiking, and just hanging with friends. I have indeed found the warmth and breathability to be remarkable. It keeps me warm at the TH while making final preparations, and once hiking I don't desperately need to claw it off 100 yards up the trail. It keeps me comfortable the entire approach. I've owned both the Ascendant Hoody, and the Refuge Hooded Jacket. I thought those were great jackets, but the Refuge Air is far superior. And its comfort is unmatched!

Great JacketI love this jacket. It works great as a mid layer under my shell for really cold days and is perfect for hiking up in the backcountry at temps between 20 and 35 degrees. As advertised it sheds heat very well when working hard and is amazingly warm considering how light it feels. I did have to go up a size to accommodate the trim fit. I'm 6'1" 200 lbs and wear a large in the OR Whiteroom shell (standard fit) but in the Refuge I had to return the large as it was way to tight in the shoulders. The XL still fit snug enough to not be to bulky as a mid layer.
