Product Reviews
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall a great, lightweight, insulated hoody. A great jacket overall. Very lightweight. Warm into 20 F to 30 F with a long sleeve underlayer. Superb construction and great materials. Only thing holding me up from giving 5 stars is the fit. I'm 6ft even, 195 lbs, athletic build, with 5 other OR jackets in my rotation. All my other jackets are a size large and fit great. I feel like I could have gone to a medium in the shadow hoody. For a midlayer, it's too baggy and long to layer under a shell comfortably. It's also is a bit too baggy to be used as an active outer layer. I think it's a great piece of gear, you just may want to consider sizing down depending on your usage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Shadow seems like the perfect middle ground I bought this piece to replace an Outdoor Research jacket that served as a "middle" base layer. The arms were less insulated and the insulation was more shallow. It was also shorter in length at the waste. So far I've been using this as a stand alone jacket. It's early in the fall and temperatures are just starting to fall here in Colorado. So far I'm really pleased. From the low 30's to the low 50's this piece is light, comfortable and most important, warm without being hot. This is the reason I have more Outdoor Research products in my closet than any other. I look forward to seeing how this jacket works as a layer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great "Mountain Casual" Piece I bought this to wear to work (I'm a high school teacher) and around town, and I love it for those purposes. It's one of those pieces that feels inviting to put on, and I feel comfortable yet "put together" wearing it to work. Not super warm but not "ultralight" either. I haven't put it to use climbing, skiing, hiking, etc. yet, as it's a little heavier and boxier than I prefer for those activities. But I imagine it will work well as a crag jacket this spring. I'm 5'11" 160lbs with a trim build and the M fits pretty well - a little boxier than my "performance" pieces, but that means it fits well over a cotton hoodie.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really dig this I really like the fit on this, I love the thumb loops so so so so much. 2 really big inside pockets too. Wish they zipped up but we can't win them all. Like how light it is excited to test it out more this fall/winter on some backpacking treks. Excited to see how cozy it is on those dead of nights in the backcountry. This may become my daily driver when it gets colder out as well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Jury's still out A nice intermediate weight jacket. Seems best for casual wear. Funky fit, though. The torso is really boxy and kind of a tight "tube" with sleeves attached. Showing most obviously at the shoulders - looks like 80's shoulder pads are back in! Very square fit across upper torso, restricting movement a bit for me. Also, outer fabric is interesting - not shiny or slick, kind of like a couch fabric or something (in kinda a good way, if that makes any sense - soft to the touch, a bit stretchy). But, noticed immediately out of the plastic bag that it will pick up and show a lot of scuffs from contact with dust, light chalky whatever, fabrics that shed a lot (as in setting it down on grandma's knit blanket). And, especially, dog fur. Have a yellow lab? Forget it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet hoody for active life in the PNW Pretty awesome coat, so awesome I'm actually leaving a review! First time I wore it out in Seattle I noticed how comfortable the fabrics were...mo tacky feeling on the inner sleeves while wearing a t shirt, then i noticed how the light rain beaded up and didn't soak in. Weh I got home I realized, man it was cold out side!! (low 40's) and I was cozy in this coat. The next night I wore it, the temps were higher, and I was walking at a fast pace with a mid-weight wool layer on underneath. 4 miles into my walk and it dawned on me that I hadn't overheated yet, which usually happens within minutes when I wear any coat! My only gripes are #1, the hood seems a bit large (but it can be cinched) and #2 it does seem slightly long, and a tad boxy, but I'm kind of small so maybe its just me! Great job OR!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My husband won't take it off I got an XL for my 6'5 240lb husband and he's obsessed, it's nice and long on him with good long sleeves. This jacket is weirdly soft and lightweight while still warm enough for below 30 degrees and light enough for 40s-50s. He's a big camper and hiker and thinks this will be a great packable jacket for many trips to come. I'm honestly super jealous and am going to get one for myself too! The blue is also a great dusty blue. Any, if I could give 10 stars I would!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very versatile, warm jacket. Would buy again This jacket is deceptively warm for the weight, but not too warm. It performs similarly, if not outperforms, my midweight down jacket. Have worn it around town and hiking/snowshoeing in the northern Midwest, as well as skiing in New England. Has great comfort range and a layer fits nicely underneath. Wind and water protection has been great, only started to get a bit saturated while skiing with a lot of snow falling and me working up some energy after several hours. Fit is slim and moves with you well, which I enjoy. Looks slick and could definitely wear it into a casual office, but maintains quality functionality and performance. Only minor downfall is the lack of an inner or outer zipper chest pocket, which I didn't realize how frequently I use until this jacket.
