Cool idea, poor fitI originally ordered this in a Large, which is what sized T shirt I wear as well as other OR jackets. The large was so huge it would tent out around my waist, it looked ridiculous and wouldn't hold heat in or fit well as a layer underneath a shell. Ordered a medium, which fit around the waist but the armpits were so tight it dug into my skin. The material is super neat and I wish it fit, but you'd have to have a humongous gut in order for this not to have way too much spare material while fitting right in the shoulders. No other OR product has been like this.

My Favorite Pullover Thus Far!I have and have tried on many thermal type pullovers. This is by far one of the best mid layers or base layers I've ever tried on. It has a waffle knit pattern. I used to wear the Patagonia R1 Regulator waffle knit fleece pullover until I got this one. I would say its a tad bigger than a regular small but I like that. It's almost a cross between a base layer and a sweater, bit not as thick. The Patagonia r1 is way short in the waist on me but this thing is perfect. I love the thumb holes as well. I've also tried other brands very similar like, Arcteryx, Patagonia, Marmot, and Fjallraven. I'm gonna be wearing this for many years to come.

Not badThe good, super comfortable and cozy. The not so good, the way the kangaroo pocket was done, attaches super high and at the side hems, cause the pocket to want to stay open and makes the torso look super blocky. In combination with not having the side slits in the bottom hem, it always rides up a little and has to be pulled back down. Would love to see that corrected and a mock collar version where the open part with the snaps go a little lower, for better venting. If you wanna get juts, maybe throw some of the ripstop material on the shoulders and kangaroo pouch to make it better for wearing with a pack.

Really DisappointedReally disappointed in the changes to this piece. It fits really odd now and the sleeves are shorter. The thumb holes are gone. The material inside the kangaroo pocket is not nice and soft anymore, whatever is in there is grabby on my hands. Behind the pocket on the inside of the garment the material feels slippery and plasticy. I'm so disappointed as I loved my older one so much. Why do you insist on changing a perfectly good piece Outdoor Research?

Warm and breathableThis is my favorite mid-layer which is perfect for southern california weather. I run hot and normally sweat out of other fleeces, but this one regulates temperature really well. I use it for hiking and casual wear. I ordered a size large, which is my normal size. I am 6ft and 200lbs with a size 17 neck and approx 34 sleeves. The neck is a little tight for me, but stretches. The sleeves are a touch short, but I can live with it. I think if I were to order again I would have got a size XL.

Waffle Knit GoodnessThis is a great fleece pullover and I like the waffle-knit design & color options that helps it work in casual settings rather than just active outdoor pursuits. The Trail Mix is warm, but breathable from its Active-Temp treatment. It is also comfortable, soft, and wears like a favorite sweater. I have worn this indoors to knock the chill off on lazy Sundays. Also outdoors for light hiking/walking with either a baselayer or t-shirt in temps ranging from 35 - 55 degrees and been comfortable without getting overheated. I normally wear a OR medium for OR Standard Fit and this Trail Mix is true to size. For comparison to another OR fleece: It is heavier and more bulky than the Surefire Hoodie I own and a bit warmer. OR seems to rotate their fleece model lines a lot and I hope they keep the Trail Mix line around for a while.

Go-To Versitility and ComfortI've worn this versatile pullover several times a week for the past month and a half. I hike every day and have found it (a) cozy comfortable, (b) versatile, and (c) durable. The thing I appreciate most is that when I can't figure what on Earth the weather's going to do, this garment plus a base layer will be comfortable if I vary the neck snaps or sleeves. Pouring down rain? Toss on a rain jacket. Icy wind shaking the trees? Add a cap & neck warmer. Dirty after a week out in the woods? Toss in the washer & it looks like new. Relaxing in an easy chair after a hike, still comfortable!

Great active insulationThis is a nice piece of gear. Climbing in chilly conditions, this keeps me warm and dry. I'm 5'9" 160lbs and a medium left some room for layers underneath
