Awesome but...I purchased these pants after wearing the Cirque pant for many years. The TrailBreakers are awesome in every way, except the waist snap is almost useless. Compared to the Cirque, with it's bomber hook and loop closure, the flimsy snaps on the TrailBreakers are a deal-breaker. I use the pants often for patrolling and maintaining backcountry ski trails (clearing blowdown, shoveling, etc). I'm a pretty slim guy but can't bend over or squat without the snaps bursting open. I've tried to compensate by adding suspenders so at least the pants stay up. This seems like a major design flaw.

Extremely tight fit over ski bootsI absolutely loved the original Trailbreaker pants and put in many miles on them. From single-day short tours, to traverses, ski mountaineering and hut trips, they stood up great. Loved the fit and the features, especially that they were loaded with very functional and well-positioned pockets (unlike most pants). No issues whatsoever. The new Trailbreaker 2 seem more catered towards (I'm guessing) climbing or winter pursuits other than ski touring. The elastic cuff at the ankle is insanely tight to get over ski boots. The ankle zippers can't be zipped up while wearing ski boots. This is a far cry from the original Trailbreakers, which fit over ski boots no problem, even with the zipper done up. Unfortunately I will be looking for other options for softshell pants for ski touring.

Most versatile BC pant I've owned!! Too dang short...I hike about 2-3 days a week in peak season. These pants held up to over 100 days of Backcountry riding last winter and are still looking great! The pockets are well suited, the fit is "active" not too baggy not too tight, the zippers are smooth and don't stick (which I care about), these are pretty waterproof baring they are softshell and not hardshell pants. These have been my go too's for warmer resort days as well as a "mountain town" pants for cruising around and doing snow chores when we covered in snow. MY ONLY QUALM... I am 6' and they are a bit short. They are ok when the boots are on but when I where these around or want to wear the suspenders they ride up and ride high. OR, PLEASE PLEASE make a 34" inseam version.

Overall awesome pantsAs a ski patroller, I need a pant that is versatile on all different weather days. With the side vents you can really throw the heat out to cool off on the warm days, especially skinning up. Plus they have a lot of room to move around in for telemark turns and kneeling to aid patients. The side/rear pockets are awkward at first. Not sure what to put in there aside from gloves and maps. Anything bulky sits behind my knee in those pockets and is very uncomfortable to sit or bend. That's why I only throw gloves in those pockets. There are a lot of cool features that I have yet to use like the avalanche beacon clip and pocket. In the future I will buy another pair of trailbreakers no doubt.

Durable, comfortable, functionalUse for ice climbing and ski touring. The waterproof fabric from above the knees down is handy for repelling drips from the ice on a warm day and keeping legs warm and dry during a deep skin or bootpack. The rest of the fabric stretches well and breathes and is far more comfortable than hard shell ski pants. The fabric is durable all around - I've caught crampon points on both the waterproof and water resistant parts of the pants, and there is no apparent damage. The gaiters are solid, and the pant cuffs are just big enough to accommodate ski boots, but slim enough to work well with lower profile mountaineering boots as well. Overall, the pants have a more tailored look, they are in no way baggy. Love them.

Love my new winter work pants!Just breaking in my new Trailbreaker ll pants: I am a professional dog musher, owning and operating the Durango Dog Ranch... 5 degrees this morning at our home kennel @ 8,500 ft elevation, and I have to say I am very pleased with the new Trailbreaker pants, the reinforced knees/lower legs are tough while the soft shell fabric is easy to move in, and stands up to the abrasive, loving scratches of the dog pack. The pocket zips and leg vents are easy to access. The belt loops are great for the belt and leatherman making these my latest goto winter work pants for mushing, mucking, and skiing when the powder gets deeper.

Bomber Pant, You will not be disapointed!!Awesome backcounty or even in bounds ski pant. Not the lightest but i bet one of the most durable. This is my 2nd pair as i'm a guide and i use them almost every day. I got every pennies worth out of my last pair over the last 3-4 years.

Very important part of my gearThese pants are very well made. Front and back pockets can accept all my survival gear. Zipper on thigh give you air when warming up plus let you access you gear under it. The fabric from lower part is very strong and can take a beating or go trough the bush unharmed. These pants are now part of my go to gear.
