Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great concept. I had really high hope for this since I usually wear a baseball hat and find myself out exposed with no sunscreen so I got this to pack into my kit bag. It fit snug with the elastic band which was good but the actual fit around my head felt really constructing around my ears and neck. The chin strap kinda just gets in the way when putting it on and taking it off. My suggestion is larger fabric tolerance to allow for a little more head room and a quick disconnect for the chin strap. I'm not a small guy and I gave it to a buddy of mine who is a red head stationed in Yuma AZ and he loves it, so it's just personal preference for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and allows coverage with a hat you already have... Took this OR Removable Sun Cape out untried for a multi-day Sierra backpack and was not disappointed at all. Totally blocked the sun (but not the breeze). Rather than put DEET directly on my skin, it could be applied to the Sun Cape and really mitigated the mosquitos. Same idea as the OR Sunrunner (which I also recommend), but works with different hats. Many miles, many fish, many days and I would use this again and obviously recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple and it Works Well Works as advertised. My only con is that the elastic was tight on the front of my larger than average head. I over stretched the elastic in the front slightly, now it fits just fine. There is also a loop in the back to feed into your hat strap that is not big enough for most of my hats. The cape is already secure enough and I like to remove the cape quickly so I don't need or use the loop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indispensable Part Of the Summer Run Kit! SO awesome to be able to start a trail race or long run when it is more cool and shady and have this little gem easily stashed in your pack ready to easily break out when it gets sunny or when you leave the tree cover for a long period of expsosure! Makes your headwear a modular and flexible system! The amount of heat you keep off of both the front and back of your neck should not be underestimated, and it keeps adding up in benefit for long efforts in the sun. Furthermore, it captures the breeze like a mini-parachute which has a great passive cooling effect! (NO, that will not slow you down) The only negative issue for me is that I like to lift the back up a little higher to cover the pony tail exit in my hat as I shave my head and need max coverage. So sometimes it falls off after 10-20 minutes because I feel the size is a little to big and the elastic is not really stretched much at baseline even with my big head. So I would encourage OR to experiment with a smaller diameter on this, or add some adjustability feature to really secure it. When I wear it normally it hans't fallen off, but still be SURE to put your head through the laces in front and then you won't lose one as I did in a trail race recently. This is an MVP piece of gear for me and I will have it for all my summer trail running and especially racing long events.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice to have available. I will wear it when it's windy or go Nice to have available. I will wear it when it's windy or going downhill, too hot for going uphill. Cotton bandanna breathe much better.
