The Outdoor Research Sun Bucket Hat. This bucket offers UPF 50+ sun protection. The shorter brim is more stable in gusty conditions, but still offers sun protection. A drawcord adjustment keeps it firmly attached to your head.

Sand Grey Sun BucketI have a collection of hats to protect my balding melon. The Sun Bucket could be the best all round choice for travel, hiking, fishing,... But the problem is lack of breathability. In the hot sun, even the lightest color Sand Grey starts to be so hot that I have to take it off regularly. Dear OR, please make this hat with mesh panels so that a little air can pass through to help with cooling. I would recommend this hat but not for hot weather or high exertion activities until OR adds mesh to the crown.

love it!My husband and I both own this hat and we love them. We are rarely without them when spending any length of time in the sun. I think we look a bit dorky wearing matching bucket hats, but the hat performs SO well that we don't care! It's the most lightweight hat I've ever owned. My favorite things about this hat are the adjustable toggle, the fact that it's available in multiple sizes because one size does not fit all (like most brands), it's breathable, and I like that it's a bucket style and not sticking straight out on either side of my head.

SizeI loved my former Sun Bucket. It was lost. I tried to replace it , 2X. Both hats were too large. I ordered the same size as the lost one, and then, one size smaller. Perhaps the hats are made by a different provider now.

DO NOT order from OR on line.DO NOT order from OR on line. Instead of the beautifully shaped hat in the picture, what came in the mail was a shapeless rag, not much better than just throwing a hanky on your head. Because of OR senseless rigid policy, finding the above cost me over $20 in shipping costs both ways.

Excellent CoverageGreat Sun protection. Lightweight and very well made. Doesn't get my cranium hot which is always a plus. Mainly use it for hiking but always throw it in my pack when I head to the beach. The Sun is brutal in Socal. I always try to protect my epidermis from the harmful Rays of the Sun.

YesGood hat, but runs a bit tight. I'm usually on the cusp between medium and large hats, around 7 1/8 or 7 1/4. So, I ordered a medium and it was too small. I'll probably get a large in the future, but would caution folks to go bigger if they are in the margins between sizes.

Would definitely buy again!I wear this Sun Bucket hat for protection. I purchased the Medium and it fits perfectly. The hat is lightweight, has under the chin straps for windy days. Keeps my head dry in rain. I have quite a few hats for different seasons from Outdoor Research and love them all.

Works great when carrying a packGreat fit, stays on, use the strap in back like a Marine and it stays put in a stiff breeze. Great sun protection even with a narrow brim because of the downward angle - but doesn't make you lift your chin to see what's in front of you. Best part is that you can toss your baseball cap, protect your ears from the sun, and use this full brim hat when you're backpacking - the angle of the back brim stays clear of your backpacking pack. Yay for OR!
