DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect all-round Softshell Jacket It's a really nice lightweight softshell jacket. I also really like the colour (instead of the standard pinks and purples!) I'm 5'9 145lbs and I'm wearing a medium. I love how long the arms are and the back length which I usually struggle to find in jackets. I was torn between the small and medium as the size chart would suggest I'm a small however the medium allows me to wear layers underneath if desired (see photo where I am wearing two shirts underneath) It's lightweight and packs down fairly small. Great for the cooler summer climbing missions, winter ski touring, going to the pub and much more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My all-time favourite jacket! This is my all-time favourite jacket for field work in the summer months (I am a biologist). It is very durable! I have to pass through barbed wire fences and bushwhack through the forest so my field work clothes get trashed - this is the first jacket I have owned that has not been a victim to fences and the forest! I have gotten it caught on the barbed wire fences and forest branches many times but have not had a hole yet - only snags. It it not completely waterproof, but if you got stuck in a light rain and quickly hike back to the truck, you are not soaking wet. This jacket is also very light weight which I love - perfect for when the bugs are bad on a hot summer day. I highly recommend this jacket!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love love love this jacket I love this jacket! It's super versatile and looks great. I use it as a lightweight travel jacket because it does just about everything. It adds some extra warmth, stops light wind, repels water, has tons of usable pockets, and is breathable. I've taken it out sailing, and it easily blocks the wind and water spray. I've hiked in it, and it allows me to breath while keeping me warm and cozy. I don't trust it in a downpour or thunderstorm but it will keep you dry long enough to get out a real waterproof layer. I highly, highly recommend it. If you don't have a use for it now, you definitely will once it's in your wardrobe.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fit was off I have multiple jackets and shirts from outdoor research in the same size that I ordered in the Ferrosi. Unfortunately the fit of the Ferrosi was off. The sleeves were way too long, the shoulder seams did not land properly (more like a drop shoulder), and somehow the bottom of the jacket was too tight. Not flattering and felt weird. I returned this one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Forbidden Love: Amazing jacket but wears out quickly I purchased this jacket back in Feb/March 2020. Since then I have put this jacket through moderate use. It has come along with me for many light walks through the woods in temps ranging from the 30s to mid-60s and kept me comfortable. I love the breathability and wind resistance. It seems to be very odor resistant as I have only washed it once (alone) with Grangers Performace Wash to help retain the product's water resistance. Recently, as we head into summer I have begun to climb mountains with this lovely jacket. I have climbed 5 mountains so far and this has been in my pack each time. Usually, I wear it to start my hike until I warm up and then take it out again on the summit to block some wind. For 2 of my 5 hikes I wore the jacket the whole time and it kept me comfortable! The only thing about wearing this jacket for an entire hike is it seems to wear VERY quickly. After wearing this jacket for a 6 mile 200ft gain hike one day and a 14 mile 3500ft gain hike a couple of weeks later (about 15 or 16 hours of hike time for me.. not that these numbers matter) I noticed some MAJOR pilling on the lower left pit/upper bicep area. I assume this came from rubbing on my pack? I either hike with a 14L Osprey Raven or a 24L Osprey Sirrus pack. I do not carry huge, heavy loads. I use a walking stick with my right hand so perhaps that is why I do not see that on the other sleeve. This worries me a great deal as the pilling area is now extremely thin and brittle feeling. I am worried it will rip by the end of summer. This jacket is really nice.. or at least it was. I try to treat my things with care and make them last so I am bummed. I understand wear happens over time but I guess I just expected it to last longer :( I will still wear it to the grave but bottom line, do not wear with a pack

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performs well, fit a bit large I've cross country skied and hiked with this jacket. It's a light-weight soft-shell so need to plan accordingly for insulating layers under it. For other OR upper-body products I'm between a medium and a large, but for this jacket a medium would clearly have been a better fit; the large is a bit loose and baggy. Hood is nice, and zipper works easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even better than expected My husband had a Ferrosi Hoodie and I'd been wanting one for a couple years, but the price held me back. When I finally got one, I found that I like it even more than I thought I would. It is a wonderful weight, not too heavy, but not so light that it isn't helpful. The sleeve length works really well for me so it's comfortable using the thumb holes or not. It's got the right amount of stretch to be comfortable worn inside as a hoodie, or outside as a wind, water and abrasion resistant light jacket. I'm 5'7", 140# with and athletic build and often struggle to find a good fit because of broad shoulders, but the small fits me well. This hoodie is versatile enough that it is worth the price.
