Rated 1 out of 5 by from This rain jacket is a joke Do you want your rain jacket to keep you dry? Yeah, me too. If that's the case, then you should probably look elsewhere. Do you like being soaked? Then this is the rain gear for you!!! In general, I love OR's products, and I wanted to love this too, but it's just an overpriced sponge; it literally soaks up every drop of water that falls onto it and transfers it right to your skin. I've tried using it numerous times, and even tried treating it with Nikwax... but I still get soaked every time. There is no saving this thing. Please, please, please DON'T waste your money. Looks like I'm going back to my heavy, non-breathable Marmot rain gear, because at least I stay dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great deal and actually waterproof! Bought when I got caught in a downpour with another brand's emergency windshell / water resistant layer and found out it let water in but not out. This jacket is miles better and is super packable (I love the velcro closure instead of zipper) and has been waterproof in my experience so far! As breathable as I would expect -- so yes, you'll get a little warmer under it when in a summer rain, but not unbearably so. You can run in it and not sweat too much on the inside. I haven't been in it in a total downpour yet but so far it's held up in steady rains. Fits super well too (5'2" / 113lbs / XS) with a cute but functional cut.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waterproofing wore out within 6 months My first one i purchased seemed to be waterproof but the plastic zipper literally crumbled off. I contact OR and they were happy to replace it with a new one. The second one only works in a light drizzle for a few minutes. I get soaked if there is actual rain and I have only owned it a few months. I washed it with goretex fabric wash and followed all OR instructions but it only made it worse. This is not the first OR waterproof product that has failed me. It seems to be common in the hood and the sleeves. I will be contacting them for a refund/store credit. I am for sure bummed because its so light. Also, I agree, the lack of pockets is annoying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wets Out In One Hour of Medium Rain I am quite disappointed with this jacket. I was unable to test this jacket until a few months after buying it because I live in a drier area. When I finally got to test it out, I wore it for an hour in medium/light rain, and it soaked the down jacket I was wearing underneath. I am thoroughly disappointed and cannot return it now either, I was preparing to hike the Appalachian trail and now have a worthless expensive jacket and have to invest in a new one. I wish OR had a better return policy so customers could lightly test out products and still return them if they are not the expected quality. Wast of money, please really consider if purchasing it is worthwhile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Lightweight Rain Jacket on the Market This is the perfect lightweight rain jacket to stash in your climbing, backpacking, or skiing pack, or just clip onto your harness. Itメs so lightweight, you donメt even notice youメre carrying it! I love ORメs stuffing system on most jackets, including this one, where you can stuff the jacket into the pocket and use the loop and clip (or your own biner) to clip it to your harness or on the outside of a pack. Iメm 5メ3ヤ and about 135lbs and normally wear my OR jackets in a S, but go this one in a M to fit over my down jackets in case I need it for cold-weather protection. This setup works great and avoids me having to carry an extra jacket in the alpine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Lightweight Jacket I have had this jacket a couple of months now. Overall, it has been great. Super light and waterproof for the occasional pop up rain storm-it's intended purpose. I had it out last weekend in a huge rain event (by central Alaska's standards mind you) and I actually stayed pretty dry for the 3 hours we were out in it. As is usual with most jackets, the water started to kind of seep up the sleeves a little. My biggest complaint is the hood. The way it cinches pulls it off from over my head. In heavy winds, not cinching at all will cause it to blow off. An update to the hood system would be nice on future renditions of this jacket. Overall though, great jacket!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect jacket for trail running Perfect layer for trail running. I hate running In the rain, but I hate running with a heavy jacket more. This is perfect. Lightweight, pack able, and waterproof enough. When running you'll always get wet either from sweat or the clouds so this is a good compromise to keep the rain off when it's really coming down. The Turmeric Color is also really good for visibility. It's nearly reflective just because of the Color which is good where I run especially when it's getting close to dark. Fit is great. I have wide shoulders, 5'9", 140lbs and the Large fits perfect. I don't like rain jackets tight on my skin so the large is a good balance of not being too big but not suffocating me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I don't really understand the hype... I purchased this jacket for my AT thru hike because of all of the wonderful things I'd heard about it. It does great as an outer layer in the mist/sleet/very light precipitation, cold and wind, breathes pretty well, but it was pretty miserable as a rain jacket. I know all breathable jackets wet out eventually, but I felt like I was always wet in this jacket, even after only a half an hour or so in anything more than very light rain. It performed like this from the get go, until I sent it home after 400 miles. The AT is super wet and humid and tough conditions for any jacket, but I would not recommend the Helium for any long term trip or even short rainstorms. I'm hoping it will hold up better farther west, where the precipitation isn't so constant, but for now I'm at a loss.
