Product Reviews
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty good, some fleas I purchased this for a 5 day winter backpacking trip. I purchased a women's XL, although I normally wear a medium, so that I could get extra length and wear over my warm layers. On the whole I was happy with the purchase. Pros: kept me dry (yay!) in some unpleasant conditions; was breathable; hood cord pull was easy to get a good fit on my head,; very lightweight and packed small. Cons: pockets poorly placed - couldn't access while wearing my pack; not long enough - I got a wet butt, especially if I stopped to rest on a damp surface; hood adjustment tricky to release. On the whole the jacket is good, but not really designed for backpacking wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "Lightweight durability" isn't an oxymoron, anymore I've been using the Interstellar in miserably wet weather for a month now, but I finally took it on its real test - a mountaineering expedition up Cotopaxi. I'll admit, I didn't believe that such a lightweight shell could hold up against high altitude mountain conditions, but this jacket outperformed every expectation I had. We withstood sideways freezing rain that left my gear coated in ice and my backpack buckles frozen and broken into pieces, but I remained warm and dry in the Interstellar. The best part: on the descent in the baking sun, this piece breathed so well that I wore it as a light windbreaker without getting overheated. Can't wait to see what new adventures I can take it on!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great rain jacket! I love this rain jacket. I had originally purchased the Aspire jacket and found it to be way too bulky (I'm 5' 6", 130 pounds and a medium was falling off of me). I returned it for a size medium in the interstellar, which has a slim (instead of regular) fit. It's so much more comfortable and a flattering jacket. Although not goretex like the aspire, it's still great in wet conditions and dries fast. I'm a researcher and spend a lot of time outside conducting fieldwork. This jacket has proved reliable as an extra layer on windy days and perfect for handling a downpour. The only downside I've yet to find is the lack of pit zips, which is always a plus on rainy and humid summer days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight job-getter-doner This jacket serves as my hard shell layer for backpacking. It's lightweight and compact which is nice for storing in the top pocket of my pack for quick access. It's been perfect to wear over the base layer on those cool morning starts, or if things are getting blustery or just down right cold, there is enough room to wear it over a puffer or soft shell jacket. On our last trip to the top of San Gorgonio, the wind was ripping. This jacket performed well blocking the wind. The cinching yet roomy hood was much appreciated! I do wish it had pit zippers to vent a little bit more, but that's my only critique.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just go ahead and buy it. This thing is phenomenal. I've been wearing the Aspire and Helium II for the past year, and this shell does double duty. It's clearly superior to the aspire with breathability alone, followed close behind with weight and how flattering the cut is. I'm a 29" waist 39" hips and wear a medium in every OR top so far. The only upside to keeping my helium still is to have folded into itself and keep in my mtb pack. Working for parks and rec, I need my kit to walk a fine line between flattering enough for biz casual~ish and functional to do my job well. So far this shell has saved my butt (with that drop tail, hayyy) from biting wind setting up a cycling workshop and falling in 8" of snow trying to run the hound I'm sitting for a friend. Flakes bead up and roll off like water on a duck and I can't wait for it to rain now! Haha

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gear to get for the Alaskan Adventurer I was looking for a solid, everyday-type rain jacket to throw in a pack and have handy as a back up as well as providing (Alaskan) summertime-level protection from the elements. I have been impressed with its performance as well as how comfortable it is to wear. It's my go-to jacket for throwing something on when going to town as well as just having an extra layer in my pack. I love this jacket and I hope it holds up for some time because I'm definitely going to use it as long as it has life. I was a little hesitant about what size I should opt for....according to the size chart I'm in between a Small and a Medium. I went with the Small and I am glad I did. I have just enough room under the jacket to wear a down puffy.....but keep in mind I like my clothes fitted. For reference, I'm a 34DD/DDD with a 28" waist + 39" hips. Thanks OR!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding wet weather wear! I bought two of the Interstellar jackets, one for me and one for my daughter, to wear on a hiking and camping trip in Iceland. Most of the time the weather was very chilly, damp and often just plain wet. We saw lots of rain in the backcountry of southern Iceland over the course of a week, but the jackets were outstanding in all of the varying conditions. They held up under blowing wind, torrential rain and bone-chilling fog. In those conditions, we had to have warm layers under the jacket but as a lightweight and waterproof outer layer, the Interstellar could not be beat. Two thumbs up!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this jacket I purchased this jacket specifically because I wanted a lightweight rain resistant and reasonably breathable jacket to pack with me to run in the mountains locally and for my summer trip to run the trails around Mont Blanc. XS is a perfect fit (I'm barely 5'3 and weigh 110lb). The hood works nicely and fits well. It is functional with just the right amount of pockets and folds into pocket nicely. And the blue is such a lovely shade - bonus. this jacket is functional but also looks great.
