Product Reviews
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Pants! I really do enjoy these pants! The color is so pretty, and I feel secure in them. I do agree with the other reviews on the awkwardness of the belt, and the overall stiffness of the pant. I don't do anything too active in them for that reason, but they're a wonderful everyday pant! In addition, the pants fit me perfectly, but if I were a little bigger or smaller, the belt might have been an issue. For reference, I ordered a size 6 short, and I am 5'5" 145lbs. I carry most of my weight in my rear and thighs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice fabric, runs small I'm 5'4", 125 lbs, 27-28" waist and 36" hips, flatter butt, short legs. I got a size 2 Short (ignoring the size chart) because I usually wear around a 2 in most brands (0 in Prana Halle, 4 in Lulu tights, 2/XS in Athleta, 25 in Madewell jeans). The fit in the legs is a tad long, loose but not overly baggy. The waist has a bit of give but the belt is completely stiff and I think a bit too small. The fit in the bum and legs is good but the waist is too tight to sit comfortably in so I'm going to try the 4 Short. The material is awesome. Feels really sturdy but comfortable. The burgundy color is really beautiful. I'm hoping to wear these rock climbing and in cooler temps for hiking. Pockets are decent size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy pants that will look good on and off trail. Feel really good in these pants. Look sharp enough that they can double for on the trail or off. Plenty of stretch, they move with me! I'm 5'3" and 120, pretty even proportioned and in most brands wear a small or 4 but the size 2 in these fits perfect (they seem to run a bit big).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I don't love them, but I feel potential As a woman who works mostly outside but still likes to look good, I've been glad to see Outdoor Research offering more styles like this that sit in the tech gear/street style hybrid zone. I was excited to try these, but the fit is not great for me. I've found other OR pants styles that fit well (Equinox, Voodoo, and Wadi Rum joggers). In the same size, the Shastin pants are comfortably loose in the legs, but really uncomfortably tight in the waist. The waist is rigid and unforgiving, even without fastening the belt. The combination of room in the legs and the tight waist makes it seem like the pants WANT to sit higher on my body, so they pull uncomfortably at the crotch (ouch) and end up being shorter than I'd prefer. The particular choice of integrated belt is a little confusing, too - besides being superfluous, it's not truly adjustable - there are only two sewn loops that the hook can fit into. The fabric feels like a good balance of comfort and durability and I like the look and convenience of the integrated belt, so I really hope this style can be reworked in future releases. Personally, I'd like to see a higher & slightly looser waist with a more functional belt, and maybe another inch of length.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big fan! I've been looking for a pair of outdoorsy pink pants for a while but never seem to find a short size so these were perfect!! First pair of OR pants and so going off the size chart I got the 2. For reference, I'm 5ft1" and under 110lbs. For anyone wondering how the belt works, it was three little loops so you can adjust it based on your waist which is handy and makes for a good fit. Wore them climbing for the first time this week and I found they had good stretch when moving around! Big fan :) Only change is I wish the short size was just an inch or two shorter since they're still a bit long.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfy pant As a work pant, they are very versatile, and I wore in all weather. Very comfortable. The built-in belt is my only complaint. I lost weight and there is no belt loops to add a different belt. I can't adjust the waist band other than what is already in the pants.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not quite what I had hoped I bought these pants after looking at maaaannny other pants for travel. I needed something I could wear for climbing, walking around, and just hanging on an upcoming trip to Spain. I'm really disappointed, but at least I got them on sale? Likes: the color is really pretty (I got the Flint, it's more of a sage green) and the fabric is nice, it feels like it'll get softer as it breaks in. The front pockets are deep enough to actually hold something, which is so unusual in women's pants! I also really like the back pockets. Dislikes: the belt thingy is weird. It's not adjustable, like I have seen on pants from other retailers (both Prana & Patagonia have a great design). There are two options to hook into, but the one causes weird bunching of the waist. Also, as other reviewers have mentioned, the rise of the pants is an odd fit. Could just be my body, but the pants seem to want to rise up to my natural waist, but the rise is too short for that and it just ends up being...awkward. The front pockets have a look that isn't too flattering on the hips. I'll keep the pants, but I don't think I'll be taking them on the trip.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks good - but not functional I specially was looking for some hiking pants that also looked cute. These pants DO look cute and they are comfortable for casual activities and they are durable and they have deep pockets that's are legit. However for outdoor activities and these aren't it. I like a higher waist pants so that the hip belt of my backpack won't come in contact with my skin, because the last thing I want is a rash. Secondly there is not enough stretch in the pants, so when I am hiking and I am lifting my legs up it feels as if the pants are working against me and I am working harder and become more exhausted. Thirdly the these pants do not breath well so I end up sweating really easily, I imagine maybe they would be good for cold weather situations, however I would prefer wearing stretcher pants with a base layer under. In the picture I saw on IG, the girl was skateboarding in the them the fabric was all wrinkled, which made the pants look like they were a bit of a lighter weight fabric, that's not the case it's a pretty thick fabric and the stretch is VERY minimal. Still cute and love the color so I am gonna keep them, but I won't be hiking in them. I had a really hard time deciding if I should give them 4 stars or 3, as I wanted to be fair to the company. Ultimately I feel like my loyalty should be with the customer so I think in all fairness since these pants are advertised as hiking pants I am gonna have to give them 3 stars.
