Product Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and warm This is easily one of the warmest, most comfortable down jackets I've owned. As someone who wears an XL, I love the fact that OR actually makes coats that fit me comfortably across the chest, with enough room that I can layer under it (most other styles of down jacket I can only zip to under my bust). That being said, this is a big, warm coat, and can be bulky. If you don't plan to wear multiple layers, you could size down easily. So far this coat has held up well in both damp and bitter cold. It's been great for winter hiking or work around our property, and nice enough to wear in to work on a cold day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would buy again! Very robust. Very well built and durable parka! A little heavier than other alpine parkas that aim to be super lightweight, but will probably hold up better for a variety of environments. This coat is suitable for mountains and in a cold city, although obviously not built for true city fashion (and it shouldn't be!) Even for an oversized belay parka, it's big. I wear a small in everything, so that's what I bought, but ended up swapping it for an extra small that was just right for still allowing room for layers. The women's small fit like a men's small/medium. I appreciate OR making a high quality women's parka too since several other brands only make men's alpine parkas. I'd say this is similar to a Patagonia Fitz Roy, but longer and more durable. Great parka overall!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game Changer This jacket is a total game-changer. I can't believe I went so long without a giant puffy like this one. Definitely beware the sizing is definitely large compared to your typical puffy jacket, but if you are looking for a belay parka that can fit over every layer you own, go for your normal size. I also find that when something fits a bit large, it is warmer, especially when it comes to puffys. But I spend a lot of time outside in the cold, and this jacket has made that so much more fun! Worn it on camping evenings that have gotten into the teens, and standing around while ice cragging, and never really felt cold!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket; sizing is off This jacket is really warm and comfortable! The day I got it, I put it on to try it and ended up leaving it on and taking a nap in it! I usually have a lot of trouble keeping warm, and this thing has made a huge difference for me. Awesome belay jacket! However I definitely agree about the sizing. According to the OR size chart I wear an XXS, but that size doesn't exist for most products so I bought an XS which has worked fine for me with other OR items in the past. I definitely want to be able to fit layers under my jacket, I expect it to be useful and utilitarian in cold weather, and it doesn't need it to be flattering. However even with all that in mind this jacket is way bigger than it needs to be. I'd still recommend it for sure, but if you're able to size down definitely do so, and if you wear an extra small be aware that it will be big. In the end I decided that the pros outweighed the cons for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The warmest coat I have ever owned. I've owned a lot of coats and been a lot of places. This is the warmest coat that I have ever owned. We like to go to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the winter and this coat keeps me WARM! It also isn't too hot on warmer days. It's just the perfect coat. It cinches in all the write places to help keep air out, the hood fits over a helmet, the hood also has a nice interior cinch that creates a nice seal around your face which was a nice surprise feature. I've worm in it whipping cold winds with a simple wool base layer and have remained very warm. Used for snowboarding, XC Skiing (on cold days) and hiking. I'm so in love, I own 2.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again! Beautiful Jacket! I work under -40 temperatures conditions! Chasing Northern Lights all night! 6 months of the year. Keeps me warm and toasty with a layer. I am buying my second one .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stoked I wear my jacket to walk my dog in the -18 degree weather with winds blowing at 47km/h and it keeps me toasty warm. I love it. The zipper is slightly finicky but it's totally worth it. I'm 5'6, 120lbs and I have extra room for layers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy again I would give it five stars but the measurements online aren't correct. It fits a lot bigger than the sizing chart. Other than that the coat is super warm and love that it's long enough to cover my but. One of the best warm jackets I have owned.
