The Outdoor Research Women's Tungsten Jacket is a waterproof, insulated shield to keep you on the mountain while everyone else shies away. Ski or snowboard a little longer with the power of GORE-TEX 2L fabric to protect against all the elements. VerticalX insulation is packed heavier in the body than the sleeves and hood, delivering heat where you need it most. As you work up a sweat zipping up and down the mountain, pit zips can be opened to release excess heat. A variety of additional snow features make the winter activity easier, from powder skirt to ski pass pocket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mostly warm and very light winter jacket I love the colour of this jacket which is bright to add to winter snowscapes! I use this jacket everyday through prairie winters and it is very comfortable and mostly warm. It is advertised as high warmth-to-weight ratio and is surprisingly warm for how thin it appears. My personal preference in the winter is to have a bit more bulk though, since I like the coziness of a thicker jacket when it's -30 to -40; however, the fit allows for layering of fleece or down sweaters underneath. Very windproof. Has a huge chin guard, which sometimes feels a bit in the way. Hood would fit over a helmet and easily fits over toques with pom-poms or other warm hats -without a helmet, it's hard to cinch it small enough for warmth and to avoid obstructed visibility from the large sides of the hood. Overall, I really like it, just these few small things that kept me from giving it 5 stars.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great except for the zipper If it weren't for the fact that I'm always fighting with the zipper this would be a great coat. It is difficult to get the zipper tab into the slot. Then you have to fight to prevent the zipper from gobbling up the adjacent fabric. It would help if there was a thicker fabric panel between the zipper and the adjacent fabric. I've only had the coat for just over a month and this is going to be an ongoing issue. Life is hard enough already.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I recommend this jacket Great overall jacket. I used it for downhill skiing. The jacket zips up high enough to help keep my face warm and the hood is the perfect size. I am please with all of the pocket options as I like to keep my phone in an interior pocket to keep warm so it doesn't lose the charge.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Water/windproof not as warm as I was expecting Thought it would be a tad warmer. Tried wearing it commuting to work and I tend to run cold. Definitely more for someone actively hiking/skiing or moving around as your body heat would stay trapped more keeping you warm(or proper layering not my work polo). Its more snug than I would have liked so size up if you want to layer. I am a US dress size 10 bust 36in waist 30in hips 40in weight 150lbs height 5ft 4.5in(I got a L and felt an xl would be a nicer fit for a thicker sweater). It definitely repells water like nobodies business. I shake it out when out of the rain and the water comes right off(goretex and waterproof coating). Zipper is a tad stiff because of the watertight closure so zip with care. Pockets are more on the side making it awkward to put my hands into for warmth. Wish they were positioned a little bit toward front or were fleece lined. Love the color love the hood its very adjustable. Overall a great jacket. Gave 4 stars was expecting it to be warmer(northern country side of NJ damp cold 30⁰F weather). And the main hand pockets bug me being so far on the side. I haven't fully put it to the test yet. Have not hiked in it yet I am excited about the pit zips. Originally was wondering why no mesh or material in them as they open up and you could reach your hand into jacket. Thinking maybe to avoid waterproof zipper snagging on the material or jamming?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid jacket for boarding in the PNW I've taken the Tungsten jacket to the mountains 3 times this season and seems solid. Even in the wet PNW, I have stayed warm and dry each time. Sleeves are a bit long for me, so that is the only complaint that I have so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely would buy again! Awesome jacket! Super warm and dry. Great with a merino layer and I'm warm on the chair at -15 when I'd normally be freezing. Great for -2 too with the vent opened.
