Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the day hiker! I strongly disagree with the two other reviewers of this product. I hiked all over Norway on rugged terrains with two of the 1L bottles and never had a problem! Filled it right from a waterfall, sinks, and never had a problem with spillage. They were rammed in rucksacks, crushed into tight spaces on trains, carried all over Norway's fjords, and just about abused. Still holding up well over 6 months later! Very happy with this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bottle I'Ve used the platypus bottles for years. Started with the original design one liter bottles and still have them, now also using the newer design as well. Have never had a problem with leaks or seam separation. I store them both right side up and upside down in my backpack and have never had one leak. Also use the drink tube kit with them sometimes and it works great too. When not in use they take up less room than a hard bottle and lighter too. Doing away with all my nalgenes and Sigg bottles. Platypus is the way to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's more than a bottle These are great ways to carry water, but are also invaluable as hot water bottles for your sleeping bag for winter camping, they can make great ice packs (snow and water mixed) for first aid situations, and they can act as travel pillows (fill them with air and wrap a buff or scarf around them for a pillow case). Really, really handy. My only complaint and concern is the cap. ONLY use the simple screw-on cap. All of the easy pop-top caps seem to leak... badly, in my experience. These bottles are also great for carrying wine, scotch, tequila, and other spirits, but the flavors can imprint on the plastic. I have one bottle each for red, white, tequila, and whiskey, depending on what the picnic, back country trip, or event needs. Great for beach trips as they are not glass and fully reusable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Leaks - Inferior to the old PlatyPlus bottles I have had at least five of these leak on me in the past year. Several of these bottles were hardly used more than a couple of months. Most have developed a leak in the seam near the mouth of the bottle and one punctured. The quality and durability of these bottles is pathetic compared to the Platyplus bottles that you guys discontinued. Those polyurethane bottles lasted for years with no issues, and had a burly point to clip to a harness with a carabiner while climbing. I am disappointed to have wasted so much money on some really second-rate bottles. Sure they are collapsible, but there are many similar bottles available for less. The new bottles with built-in carabiners are far too flimsy to ever use while climbing. The biners are plastic and will break right off. Bring back the PlatyPlus!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Take care of them, they will take care of you. I have been using collapsible water bottles since the '70s. I bought two 100 ounce (or there abouts) Platypus bottles about ten years ago. I have carried them in my backpack when hiking and skiing and tossed them around pretty good on the back of ATVs. Both are still going strong. As for thoroughly drying them, I store the bottles in the basement within a few feet of the furnace. My bottles dry completely in a couple days. I am not sure if my drying experience would be typical or if there is something unique about my situation. I have recommended Platypus water bottles to others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great EDC Bottle These bottles are a great size for all around use. The .5 liter models fit in cupholders and small pockets in almost any bag while the 1 liter version works great in many pack water bottle pockets. I like the new tall and slender design for the .5 liter better than the old design (that I also have) which appeared to be the same width as the 1 liter but was much shorter. I take the 1 liter on almost every backpacking trip since it is ultralight and packs down to nothing since I use my Platy bladder while hiking. A great bottle all around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't go hiking without it Maybe I'm not rough enough, but my Platypus items are going on 10+ years old, and still work and look as good as day one. I carry mine inside my backpack, maybe that's why it is not leaking like some have experienced. Regardless, they are durable, and if you shop-smart, you can find them at great prices at some on-line outdoor stores. I've bought dozens of these, and give them out at the holidays etc.. everyone loves them! I like the 1.0 size the best, and also have the 1.8 reservoir. I keep 3 in my fridge filled and chilled at all times.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good affordable, reliable water storage I've used collapsible Platy's for the past five years and still have a few of the originals. Tried something recently that I had never done before... Filled one with hot water, dropped it into a hiking sock and then tossed it into my sleeping bag. Warm feet all night! Not a single leak! (I also had some warm water to drink in the a.m.)
