Product Reviews
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not waterproof = Doesn't do its job This jacket clearly does not qualify as "waterproof". I bought it specifically because it was labeled as such and got heavily disappointed when I got soaking wet using it during some medium rainfall. One might call it "water repellent" at best, as it does work during mizzle or very short exposure to medium rain. But calling it "waterproof" is seriously misleading. I still use it as a wind jacket and it is fine for that purpose but I could have gotten a proper wind jacket for half the money. Not gonna buy Rab again anytime soon, as I've learned I can't trust their labeling. Don't buy this jacket! Buy an actual waterproof one or buy a less expensive wind jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value summer waterproof This is a very good jacket for the price. I've worn it during a few nasty showers and stayed nice and dry, although I've yet to use it during sustained rain. Rab have not made the mistake of cutting corners to save weight. Often lightweight jackets have horrible little zip toggles but these are a decent size. Pockets have storm flaps (most expensive jackets don't bother, often resulting in maps getting soaked). Can be stuffed into Left pocket, though cloing the zip is fidly. Excellent, fully adjustable hood. My only negative point is that it is heavier than Rab claim. I weighed my large size jacket on two seperate scales and got 400 g both times, not 340 g as Rab claim.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great look and fit! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this about a month ago and it has served me well as a shell, with making sure to dress appropriately with the right amount of coverage underneath, depending on how cold. I've biked it in outside multiple times and used it more casually, and it looks and works great. I've only been in minor showers where the hood shape and jacket kept me dry. However, I haven't tested it out in extreme down pour or extended rain to see if it keeps me dry in those conditions. Overall, it's exactly the type of navy blue jacket I was looking for (aside from the super high end expensive darker navy jacket I was looking at) at a great price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice looking, feeling jacket, but not convinced by its waterproofness! Brought this jacket back in 2019, first off its a great looking jacket, nice feeling as well and is also nicely breathable. However there is a massive flaw, one which defeats the whole object of the jacket. Its waterproofness. 20 minutes in light/moderate rain and the jackets starts pitting and looks quite frankly weird. the next day the pit marks are still visible and are a darker blue, so it looks like it is permanently damaged. Assuming it'll come back to life i tried it on again in the rain, 10 minutes later i am wet through. returned it and was refunded promptly, great customer service and a great looking jacket is the only reason why its 2* in my opinion, if not for that 1*.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rab Downpour plus Jacket Was torn between the downpour plus Jacket and the Spark jacket :coat: but went for the downpour plus as I preferred the material feel and it was slightly cheaper too. The jacket is great but the only downside is that the pockets sit under a climbing harness and my rucksack hip belt but as the pockets are that deep, it didn’t effect them a great deal, as my harness/hip belt only covered about 30% of the pocket. This still gave me enough space for my hands but it would be massive improvement if the pockets were a lot higher like in a lot of other jackets but I knew this when purchasing the jacket.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mr Purchased thus jacket about 18 months ago as needed a taped seem jacket to compete in a ultra race...fortunately didnt need to use it. Have just returned from the lake district and used for a walk on Saturday where we didnt have heavy rain but weather was generally damp...after about an hour and a half was completely wet through, no beading of water just absorbed it and passed through to clothing underneath...an uncomfortable afternoon that luckily wasnt too cold Have always used rab clothing and so was really disappointed... I would not use again unless more for windproofing

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I wanted! Purchased this jacket about a month ago and have used it on several Winter hikes in the Pacific Northwest. Wet days to be sure. Each outing with this jacket assures me that my research on what to purchase proved correct. Fits well (I went up one size based on others recommendations); water tight but very breathable with the side vents and I really like the fitted hood and visor. 1st class purchase. And, the Firecracker color is awesome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Value technical waterproof shell. Light, packable, performing shell. Excellent fit, arm length, hood etc...room for layers 5ft 10 / 77kg (medium). Ive just returned from an extended period in wind driven autumn rain, the face area is always going to be a weak point, so usually wear a buff or scarf to prevent water seeping downward and wetting the chest area, worked well. Over all, no wetting through or unintended seepage on the main body. Beware of leaving gaps in pockets. Even when zips are properly closed slight wetting through can occur.
