Not as waterproof as I'd hopedI've had the jacket for about 18 months now, mostly fair weather or light showers use, but recently I've been out in the hills in persistent rain and been wet right through the jacket.
I guess the DWR coating needs re-done with some Nikwax TX Direct, but I still expected the basic waterproofness of the Pertex material to keep the rain from soaking through.
This replaced a Mountain Hardware Conduit jacket which was always water proof and was only re-treated about 3 or 4 times in fifteen years of use.
Expected similar or better from Rab gear.
Otherwise the fit and function has been great.

I haven't had an opportunityI haven't had an opportunity to test this in proper mountain conditions yet but I'm already impressed with the style, fit and comfort. The waterproofing is excellent and hss good breathability. The pit zips work very well and the hood can be adjusted easily. The peak is very good too. Pockets are very roomy and set slightly higher, which will work well with hip belts. Cuffs feel very secure whilst being easily adjusted.
Overall, a really great lightweight jacket for a reasonable price for those who want to upgrade their waterproofs without having to break the bank.

Great JacketThis is my first Rab jacket, and I love it! It's very light, very waterproof and water beads up on it beautifully! The pockets are of a generous size, has a hood with a wired peak which should retain it's shape in strong winds. The jacket also looks very smart, which although not essential when out on the hills, does help when visiting the pub afterwards. Overall very impressed, next test for it will the the South West Coast Path in November! Looking forward to it!

Love it!I’ve had this jacket for a couple weeks now. So far it’s been great. I wear it as a shell over my puffy and it’s great against wind. Will be wearing it all winter long in tough Canadian winters.
Only issue is the zipper. It’s not the easiest to zip and unzip. And unzipping from the bottom is hit and miss sometimes. But maybe it just needs to be worked in.
Aldo, The jacket fits great!! Looks stylish and just fits better than many more expensive jackets.

M.Like others who have left reviews here, I was initially impressed by this jacket, though I have always had an issue with the hood (large enough to fit over a helmet, it is compromised when used without one as it is very large and has to be heavily cinched down to give a snug fit). It is however an expensive product which should mean it separates itself from the pack when the weather really turns bad, sadly in my case it didn't achieve this. Two days ago in high winds and heavy rain in The Lakes, its shortcomings became apparent. The weather was foul and the hood was impossible to tighten with gloves on and I mean impossible after struggling I had to get a fellow walker to adjust the toggles. The rain came through the font zip so by the time I was down off the mountains my chest was soaking wet. I suspect all supposedly waterproof zips aren't, but are fitted because they look better than conventional zips with a baffle over the top.

Overall fit and quality isOverall fit and quality is top notch, only docked a star because the hood is massive. I even have to cinch it down around my full-face mountain bike helmet. But the stretch and extended put zips are killer. It’s super functional overall, quite burly, and l would definitely recommend it to anyone needing a shell for its intended use. Rad shell!

A great lightweight jacket forA great lightweight jacket for wet walks! I have been very impressed with the quality and functionality of this jacket and is a great asset on long walks. A particularly good feature is the exceptionally long arm pit vents which provide perfect cooling air, allowing you to keep dry from the rain without the unwanted heat inside the jacket.

Brilliant JacketGot the Firewall a month or so ago and so far have put it through it's paces on Arran and Aviemore in some pretty horrendous conditions.
It's performed outstandingly well! Not been damp once with it!
Great quality jacket! Very light and the fit is spot on for me.
In fact so good as soon as my wife saw it she decided to get one as well!
