Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice, stretchy, feels like fabric not plastic [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Really like this jacket, it feels like fabric on both the inside and out rather than plastic. It's breathable so it works as a warm layer as well as raingear. Pretty lightweight at 9.5 oz for a Large. The jacket is form-fitting so I ordered up a size but it also is stretchy. If you want to wear a full-on puffy under it I would try ordering up a size. Normal size can fit a down vest and a wool baselayer no problem. Really nice. Like that it takes the place of both rain jacket and fleece for me. But I still have a wool layer so YMMV. This jacket is specifically marketed for backpacking, so I expect it will hold up to shoulder straps or that Rab will back it if for some reason it does not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket.Only tested it while Great jacket.Only tested it while bouldering in the Peak District so far but it's quite a challange for a jacket as you take it on and off frequently. Everytime I put it back on it immediately warmed me up and it was 5 degrees and windy. Caught a few showers and it really is waterproof! The only downside for me are the pockets, they are not well sutured and riped open the first week of use and I haven't put any sharp objects in them. However the jacket is so good I didn't send it back to Rab as I didn't want to part with it for too long. Sewed it myself and works fine since. Would but again, definitely worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight ans SOOO comfortable I was looking for a very packable lightweight waterproof jacket so I can carry it in my workbag and backpack. At first, I was very skeptical about the fabric being so thin and waterproof. The employee has put some water on the sleeve, and the water was beeding up and the fabric didn't got wet at all!! That has scelled the deal for me!! I was also impressed by the breathability and the stretch of the jacket. I love the little stow away sack that comes with it. It packs smaller than a Nalgene bottle! This is by far the best lightweight jacket I've ever own!! Two thumbs up!!:+1::skin-tone-2::+1::skin-tone-2:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best rain jacket I have Best rain jacket I have ever had. I usually wear a 10 b/c I have broad shoulders, and bought this in a 12 so I could wear a jumper underneath, if need be. Perfect fit, very light, great cut. Had to try it in the biggest downpour within days of receiving it (5h hike), and it kept me completely dry - even under the backpack straps, which was a pleasant surprise. The stretchy material means I don't have to jeopardise the ability to move freely. The hood fits over a helmet, but as with most hoods, it doesn't move quite as well as my head - so when turning to the side, I get some hood in my face (might be a trial-and-error adjustment thing). I cannot recommend this jacket enough; wish I'd bought one years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stretchy, dry wonderfulness. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So this thing is lightweight. Like lighter than pollen. But it’s got great flex to wrap around me comfortably and the gusseted sleeves allow me full range of motion so I can leap with glee like in an old Toyota commericial, without worrying it will roll up to my bust, embarrassingly exposing my middrift and possibly unhinging my bra. The Rab is good for the Bra. Ya!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Durability I bought this jacket for a trip to Europe, and was initially happy with it. The blueprint color is beautiful, and the jacket is lightweight and reasonably waterproof (although I probably wouldn't trust it in a severe downpour). It is quite fitted. Unfortunately, when I went to hand-wash the jacket in the sink, the thin fabric tore from gentle rubbing/cleaning. I only got to wear it for ONE DAY before it was ripped. I repaired it with some fabric tape, but I was quite disappointed that the fabric was so delicate, considering the cost of the item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic shell. I overheat pretty Fantastic shell. I overheat pretty easily skinning and this jacket is unbelievable on how dry I stay underneath it. I ordered a women's XL to be able to layer under it with a Flux jacket which has been a great combination for uphill travel. I normally am a women's large with Rab but felt this jacket was maybe just a smidge smaller in the hips than previous jackets I've owned by Rab. The main zipper was a little fincky which now seems to be breaking in a little bit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Both my wife, Sue and Both my wife, Sue and daughter Liz have a Valiance jacket. Though they are not used in a mountain situation they both think they are fantastic day to day garments. Down jackets have always suffered from the "what happens if ot rains" question; the Valiance truly answers this. Kinetic Plus: I have been recommending this waterproof for a long time and is my go-to waterproof/casual jacket. Its beauty lies in its softness and quietness which means that it can be worn as a casual outerwear garment knowuing that you will have full protection should it start to rain. I also wear it over light insulation for bad winter days out and the Kinetic Plus proves it can do everything which a heavier waterproof can do. My Kinetic Plus is now a couple of years old and I need to reproof the outer fabric which, due to its knit construction, is more liable to wet out than conventional weave. Rab Carrington
