The Salewa Men's Wildfire GTX Shoe is a technical approach shoe for scrambling and climbing your way through the alpine. Whether you're just out for a quick hike above the treeline, or getting to the point where you're about to switch shoes and climb with a harness, the sticky POMOCA Speed MTN outsole is here to help grip your way along paths uncharted. The 3F system wraps the foot and secures the shoe in place without slipping, while a GORE-TEX membrane provides waterproof, breathable performance for wet weather. Lacing to the toe allows for a dialed in fit, or loosen it up at the end of a long day.

Product Reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good looking shoe, but has some quality flaws [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The shoe has a nice feel to it and upholds its waterproofability, being GoreTex, but it has already started to unravel itself on me. The large rubber cross-hatch on the exterior has snapped at its thin point, with no less than a day of wear. It is only aesthetic, so not too much of a bother. The small boxes toward the bottom have also started to perforate within a week or two. I'm afraid this shoe isn't in it for the long haul. I ordered what seems to be a half size too small anyway, given the narrow fit, so I may be looking at another pair before this one falls apart.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've owned two pairs of the Wildfire GTX and I'm about to buy another pair. These have become my all time favorite shoes for both hiking and for approaches to rock climbs. They are very comfortable, stable and confidence inspiring. The sole is sticky enough for most approaches and yet is incredibly hard wearing. In fact the whole shoe is hard wearing. After quite a bit of use and abuse I'm still using my first pair as camp/town/work shoes, and they're still quite supportive and comfortable. The shoe is also fairly light. Not super light, but lighter than many approach shoes. I think they have some trail running features designed onto these shoes. Even the inner sole is a cut above your average out of the box inner sole. Sizing seems true. Very highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best approach shoes I've ever owned. I've worn them all over Yosemite Valley, Tuolumne, and the Eatern Sierra for the past three years, and they're still not showing any signs of wear. If you're boulder hopping from your car to the roadside crag, they may be overkill. But if you're lugging heavy packs on long approaches/descents and need a shoe that'll stick when it matters, you can't go wrong with these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoes! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought these shoes to use for work as a landscape contractor. I'm out on jobs walking around on unpaved surfaces for most of the day and need a lightweight but rugged shoe. I've been wearing these for a bit over a month and they are super comfortable and fit like a glove plus provide good traction. I have a very narrow foot and so finding a shoe that fits snug is often a real challenge but these shoes fit like a glove. My 2 boys (11 & 13) and wife all thought they were cool too so that is a bonus! They seem to run about a half size small so I had to exchange my first pair. The green color is also WAY better than black!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome Shoe for Hiking The sole is great and rugged. I put over 100 miles in these shoes doing the Wonderland Trail in Washington. Rocks, roots, dirt and water soaked log crossings… these shoes did great! My only issue is that they are really for people with narrow feet! I have blisters all over my feet especially the outside heel. The inserts could use some upgrades but all around if you have narrow or slim feet, these shoes are amazing. I stepped in water at one point and they were quick to dry. They never let me slip on even the worst types of terrain. Overall great shoe… just for people with narrow feet!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have had a dozen of these [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am here to tell you these are the Allen Edmonds(former finance guy) of the Outdoors.I am an avid outdoorsman/ Hunter/Disc Golfer and where these everyday. You will not go wrong. I am in the woods 5-7 days a week and this is the shoe I were. I am also am in the car wash business and my shoes get wet and my feet stay dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Zero Break In! This is my 3rd pair of these shoes and I love them. They are a fully equipped hiking/mountaineering shoe with a protective toe shield and firm sole. Yet, unlike so many shoes in this degree of utility, they have absolutely zero break in requirement. Put them on and go! Addtionally, these are some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned, so I started wearing them on my metro trails too! Sidewalks, sales floors, and solid surfaces are no threat to the support and cushion of these tamable wilderness borne vessels of foot delight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are my go to three seaon shoe for training and daily treks. They cousion loads up to 45lbs on hard pack. They allow me to stay sure footed in scree and loose fill, which is kind of important since my knee replacement. They breath well, keep my feet dry, and generally meet the standard of all the hype. Good light weith shoe, I highly recommend them
