Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes please. An extremely worthy successor to the Freedom line. The addition of the Powerrun PB foam makes for a fantastic ride. I dropped a 20 miler in them the second time out, and they felt incredible the entire way. They have the guts to get up and go when you need to without compromising the ability to go long. This shoe is versatile, and I like that. Fit true to size, just the right amount of structure for the upper, and an awesome midsole. Definitely a shoe I will end up with more than one pair of.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Skeptical Despite most not understanding its place or purpose, I’ve been an avid fan of the Freedom series so far, but the language in this newest iteration is disconcerting. It seems that under the pressure from consumers to be told exactly how to use this shoe, Saucony has inserted copy that insinuates this is some kind of CrossFit shoe, rather than the low-stability out of your way cushioned distance trainer it had always been. I will wait for the reviews, but for now assume that the shoe has been pivoted towards another function. Also, the colorways are unexciting at best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite running shoes I've been running in these for two months and love them. They felt the best out of 8 different neutral trainers I tried on at the local running store. The cushioning is excellent without being bulky. At first I thought the toe box was little bigger than it needed to be, but now that I'm used to the Freedoms, my old trainers feel cramped in comparison. I'm 190 lbs and use the Freedoms for about 60% road, 40% trail with long runs up to 10 miles and they are holding up fine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Saucony Freedom yet Nothing like the first 3 generations of Freedom. Whatever stability was added to the tread/foam for change of direction is terrible for people who wear this shoe for true 1/2 and full marathon training. Reminds me more of a cross fit style shoe and it definitely feels like I am wearing a stability running shoe which is not what this shoe has ever been advertised as. I’m a neutral running gait and always have been. First 3 generations were awesome and only shoe I wore for my last 6 marathons and 8 half marathons after switching over from the triumph and ride. I have worn Saucony for the past 20 years and highly disappointed in this new model. I will try and order as many pairs of the generation 3’s to get me through until the Freedom 5 comes out and hopefully Saucony will go back to their roots with this shoe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite daily trainer I have many pairs of running shoes, but these are my favorite. A daily trainer that works just as well for a recovery run or speedwork. The midsole has nice energy return and is a bit firm until they break in. The shoe feels very neutral. I like the 4mm drop for trainers. The upper fits very securely but the shoe is flexible. The shoe has a proper outsole which works even with light trail running and gravel. The shoes handle light rain and wet pavement well without getting my socks wet. They are a bit pricey, but very durable. I have over 500 miles on my first pair and they are in better shape than Kinvaras with half the mileage. Especially the midsole seems to hold its shape well. I am now looking to get another pair for next summer. Pros: versatility, durability, fit, style Cons: price (although good price to durability ratio), availability in Europe

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stellar midsole failed by bad upper This is my 3rd Saucony Freedom, going back to the ISO days, and it's my least favorite. I don't know what happened with the fit of this shoe, but my standard 9.5 is both too long and fits poorly through the midfoot, whereas in the Freedom 3 I felt completely ensconced in the upper even in a size 10. The materials of the upper are premium, but as a running shoe it feels overdone with suede-type overlays and stitching and and is just needlessly complicated. Not to mention heavy. I bought the yellow colorway because, well, I guess it was that or another black shoe? The options are pitiful, especially considering how excellent some of the other Saucony colorways are, and especially for this price point,. The midsole, however, is outstanding. I suspected that PWRRUN PB would be excellent without a plate, and I was right. It's springy and protective, and honestly everything I could ask for from a running shoe midsole. The outsole is also very good, with far better traction that you get from the Endorphin Speed or Pro, or even the previous Freedom 3. It's a shame that the rest of the shoe is so confused. Also-- My guess is that Saucony is trying to position this as a premium lifestyle option so as not to encroach on the Kinvara's territory, but in doing so I think they have missed the mark. TL;DR: Saucony tried to do too much with this shoe and it cost the Freedom its identity.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wow I've been running, strength training, and wearing these casually and they are simply amazing. The NB Rebel v2 got all the attention in 21', and it's a cool shoe, but I really prefer the Freedom 4 over them and they've replaced them in my rotation. Not to mention they're way more versatile, and durability seems superior. Most importantly though, the forefoot doesn't bottom out on my daily runs. The pebax foam really shines under load. The design aesthetics seem to have come a long way from the Freedom 3 but still need some tweaking to garner their deserved attention. Well done Saucony!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fits differently My favorite shoes for years have been the Freedom series, dating back to the ISOs, mostly because of the fit. This fit is much looser for me, and less comfortable. I should have tried it on before purchase, but I hadn’t had that problem before. I am hoping I can still find some 2s and 3s.
