Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Version 12 Has Reclaimed All its Peregrine Glory! EXCELLENT changes to an amazing trail runny shoe! The last version of this shoe (version 11) sported a narrower, stiffer and heavier design from prior versions, which can be helpful for some kinds of trails, but tiring to run in for longer miles on the kinds of trails such as Colorado's front range. But in Version 12, Saucony has brought back a super light and flexible shoe, while keeping the ruggedness of their new design. My only wish is that the wide shoe came in other colors than just black, but I'm more than willing to live with a great running shoe that fits me well, supports my runs and only comes in black.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed I purposely got the Peregrine 12’s to put in the rotation in signing up for a trail 50k and wanting to get more trail running time in. If they came with a root alarm to let you know you’re going to trip, I’d give them 10 stars, but alas … only 5. That said, the Peregrine 12’s were fabulous through short paved sections, Florida sugar sand, rocks, and roots spider webbed across the trail path on my 50k race. The stability and traction through each step was exactly what I needed and the padding is just enough to provide comfort on a long haul while the rock plate helped protect the soles of my feet. They felt lighter than expected and are more flexible than I expected … both good things to me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Missed the mark Unfortunately, this is way worse than previous versions. Biggest problem, the back part heel is raised like an n instead of a u, and is extremely stiff. This caused hot spots almost instantly due to stiffness of the top part of the heel. After multiple trips this is still a problem. Also, I do not have exact specs but the shoe feels lighter at the cost of thinner material. This is not ok for a road shoe, but this is a trail shoe. There is noticeably less padding around the shoe as well including the tongue, which is now a thin piece of material. Unfortunately, these changes are not for the better, and I will now have to purchase a new brand. Which is hard because I loved the previous versions.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from DEFINITELY not as good as before I bought a pair of the Peregrine 12 last year and loved them, in fact, I walked so much I wore the soles out. So I figured I was safe ordering another pair of the same model and size... WRONG! I was disheartened to see that the new version, not only has a different feel (the sizing and shape is a bit different), but they definitely skimped on the padded lining on the new version (see photo). The cushion padding from the tongue has almost completely been removed as well as they significantly reduced the amount of cushion padding around the sides. As this is a trail shoe I found the padding made the shoe hug my feet more and provided additional comfort on long walks. Sad to see it go. Considering that this is not a cheap shoe, I doubt I will purchase these again in the future unless they change it back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I expected I originally bought these shoes for a hike in the Rocky Mountains, and considering they weren’t dedicated hiking shoes, they performed almost the same. They are extremely comfortable, agile, durable, and have great traction. I was walking through blankets of slush and ice, and I very slightly lost grip only 3-4 times over the span of 4 hours. The comfort is amazing, throughout those 4 hours of hiking, my feet did not hurt at all. Lastly, the rock plates are exceptional, considering the fact that I was jumping from 3 feet onto sharp rocks, and not feeling a thing. The only complaint I have is the lack of waterproofing, however the water guards give you enough protection for up to one inch of water. Throughout all of that hiking, the shoes suffered almost zero damage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very comfortable out of the box Superior grip on loose gravel or dirt. Very comfortable, wide toe box, and insanely lightweight. Big fan of the lower heel stack height. My favorite trail runners yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesomesauce for Backpacking I have traditionally only hiked in boots, but wanted to give these a try since Saucony is my favorite running shoe. (I currently own Triumph, Shift, Speed and Pro.) I was pleasantly surprised how much more control over my own steps these shoes gave me. I did have a few rock hops over water and did get them a little wet, but they dried quickly. I love the color. The running joke was if I got lost or injured, SAR would be easily able to find me by my shoes. (I am woman with wide feet so I tend to buy men’s shoes.)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great fit, very poor durability Finally I bought a pair of Peregrine 12. Grat shoes with a great precise fit and a very good comfort. Unfortunately I can't say that durability is also great or good. The outsole fell apart after only 42 km. Very dissapointed, they turned to be my most exspensive pair of trail running shoes.
