Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best shoes ever [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my 4th pair of the Scarpa Instinct VSR, and they have yet to fail me. Really soft shoes perfect for indoor problems, but comfortable enough that I can wear them for long outdoor routes too. They feel great out of the box, and continue to fit well, with minimal stretch, until the very end of their lifetime. They do tend to wear out pretty quick (around 3 months) but I do climb 4-5 times a week. That being said they are still worth every penny. For sizing, I wear a size 7 women's street shoe and have the Instincts in a 5 1/2, but I would recommend only downsizing 1 size to start out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One shoe to rule them all... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I first tried this shoe on at a scarpa demo at the gym. I had been looking to switch from 5.10. When I tried them on I felt an unexplainable power surging through my body. I thought, “could this be it?” The one shoe I’ve been looking for?? Indeed it was, I purchased a pair the next day and projects started to fall left and right. I noticed that I was too strong and realized the shoe’s power had some side effects. I was unable to sleep at night constantly thinking of flashing projects I’ve never tried...I have decided the shoes are too powerful and they need to return to where they came from. I have purchased a plane ticket to New Zealand in hopes of finding a volcano to throw them back into. Until then I will send a few more projects...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The instinct line by Scarpa is by far the best line of climbing shoes I’ve worn. They fit great in the toe box and the heel actually stays on. I wanted to try the VSR due to their superior toe pad that the regular Instincts don’t offer. (Still great) For reference, I wear a 37.5 in both styles of Instincts & am a size 7 in street shoes. The rubber is softer so you can feel every move and their definitely tailored towards those who boulder and steeper routes-rad make Scarpa!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for steep climbing [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got these about a month ago and did a head to head comparison with the women’s lace miuras on small footholds on a vertical wall. I was able to stay on the wall with these but not with the miuras. I also found they worked well on a slightly overhanging arete outside. The rubber does feel softer though so if I don’t need the extra stickiness I still use the miuras. In la Sportiva I’m a 37.5-38 and I got these in a 39 and they were comfy out of the box. I probably could have sizes down a half size but then would have had to break them in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powerful shoe [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Been using the shoe for last month and it delivers on heel and toe hooks on in-door bouldering problems. The shoe's downturn so far holds for ~150 lb person despite the grip rubber and inspires confidence on overlangs and slabs alike. Break-in period is a couple sessions if it's your first downturn shoes; toebox is wide and tall but for my feet, I wished it was a tad taller. Heel is slightly roomy on the left foot (normal shoe size is 10 USA, VSR size 43.5) but good fit on right foot (slightly larger). Sizing down to 43 or 42.5 had painful hotspots on the big toe knuckle. Toes curls just enough with a snug fit to keep the shoe rigid under tension for foot chips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect bouldering shoe [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are my sending shoes. I own two pairs in different sizes. I hope to have a pair at all times for the rest of my life. For some reason they fit my foot in every single area like no other shoe. I have a short, wide foot with a high arch.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent shoe [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used the VSRs for 5 or so sessions at my local bouldering gym. I wore a size 40 in the competitor brand and I got this in 40.5. The shoe is generally pretty comfortable but it's a lot harder to put on and take off than my other shoes. I also wish the heel was tighter. There's a bunch of dead space for me even though the shoe is pretty snug every where else. Performance seems pretty good. They are quite sticky and generally have more confidence in them than my other shoe but I wish they fit better in the heel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Bouldering Shoe [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Other shoes I own: Instinct VS - 43, Instinct Lace 43 Got these to see how something a little more sensitive did for the more bouldery problems. Not disappointed. I was able to size down a half size from my regular VS and they are honestly more comfortable, I think due to the slightly softer toe rubber. It's basically a slightly softer and stickier VS. Plus the blue looks dope.
