Product Reviews
Rated 4 out of 5 by from The best I could find; Room for improvement [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The micro stripe pattern seems to make this model slightly less scratchy over the solid 150s model. I hope we haven't yet reached the limit of softness from merino. This model might be tolerable for me but barely. This blue is nice, but I'd love more interesting, subdued colors (not gray and not hot pink or bright turquoise). Icebreaker has some nice colors and designs, but I find their tops scratchier still. Finally, in long and short sleeve models, I'd also like the collar to come a little higher without being suffocating or without any shape. I prefer to keep the sun off my upper chest.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Packs Small but scratchy I have the gray one which has a slightly blue tint to it. It packs small, is lightweight and well made. It is just too scratchy to wear next to my skin so I wear a tee under it. I am surprised because I have the underwear and bra and neither of them feel like this. I don't know if those products have nylon or what the difference is. So I wear it like a light sweater which isn't bad for my climate. I just can't wear it year round like I wanted to. I ride my bike every day to work and it is helpful to keep me warm but not too warm. Nobody else is mentioning the scratchiness so it may just be me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smartwool Long Sleeves Rock! I purchased a smartwool shirt for my fiance to give it on her birthday, June 23rd, to replace her old one that had holes and tears. She loved her first shirt so much that holeness was going on all over it :) So her birthday was a perfect reason to correct that situation. She was so happy to get a new shirt and it turned out so timely. We went to Toronto to celebrate her special day and it was a rainy and chilly week. So layers worked out perfectly. She felt warm and comfy in her birthday gift! Thank you Smartwool for making it warm and cozy for us in the coolness of Toronto this June!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No longer 100% wool This is my fourth long-sleeved 150 from Smartwool, and I'm very disappointed to see that, with the newest batch, they are no longer 100% wool. These thinner wool shirts weren't nearly as durable as their thicker cousins and were prone to holes, but they were such versatile garments, I felt that that was the price paid for such light, thin wool. Now Smartwool has added nylon and the shirt just doesn't breathe as it should. In the past, I'd wear my 150s on cooler but still humid summer days, and they were so comfortable and breathable. Now, they're too hot and sweaty for that. I would also take one with me on summer hikes to higher elevations, to layer as the air got colder, but again, they're sweaty now. I get what Smartwool was going for, but sacrificing performance for durability isn't the answer. These used to be year-long garments, but they are now cold-weather only.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not the quality I expected for the price. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought it for a hike this summer. Love the feel of the fabric, kept me cool and dry. BUT during my first day of wearing it I noticed the seam inside the arm is fraying, all along the seam - where it touches the body as you walk. After one day? I'll be returning it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This is not the same base layer The fit on this base layer has changed. I have the same shirt from spring and this model is different. The sleeves are 3-4 inches longer (comes to the tip of my thumb) and the body is also about 3+ inches longer. I am 5'4" with an average torso size. I love the new colors but returned the two shirts I purchased because the sleeves were way to long and the body length was no longer faltering on me. So frustrating when you love a top and it no longer fits you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great lightweight layer I am 5'2", 125 lbs, slim upper body and purchased a small. It's form fitting but not skin tight. My only issue is the fit along the arms. It's unusually loose all the way from the under arm to wrists. It's not ill-fitting enough for me to return but I would've much rather had a snugger fit along the arms. I think the XS would've been too short in length and at the wrists for my liking. I was also debating getting another 250 top because they fit so nicely but opted for the 150 as the 250 layer can get a little hot. So if this shirt fit like the 250, it would be PERFECT! However, I think this top will be really versatile as a casual layer in the winter and nice for summer ascents when it gets cold on the side of the mountain. I'm excited to throw this puppy on!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this shirt I hiked 226 miles on the John Muir trail last September with two of these long sleeved shirts. Even on the warmer days, they breath so well, I was never too hot. They NEVER smell. They dry very quickly. And very good for layering under warmer clothing.
