I liked these pants - first official base purchase - successThe design was flattering, the fit was great, they were soft and warm. I did a small hike in these pants and enjoyed them very much. The only reason for the 4 stars is I don't love where they sit on my waist and I actually folded them down and had to adjust them several times on the hike. Otherwise they were lovely and I would likely buy this type of item again. Thank you Smart Wool. So far enjoying this item. I am 5'5 129 and purchased a Small. I'm usually a medium but am small in some brands. The return process of the mediums WAS SO EASY! They came in a resealable envelope and were a cinch to return and at no cost! I'm really digging this company.

Please add different inseam lengths :)[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The material is amazingly soft and comfortable, and warm without making me sweat on the slopes, hence the 4 stars. The waist is a bit big, and I am not a small waisted person. For me, they are mid to almost low rise, and I was worried that they would fall down during my day of snowboarding, but they stayed up, so that was good. I wish that they had TALL sizes. They are about 3 inches too short for me, which is covered by my socks, but not ideal. They would be more comfortable for us talls if they were higher (and slimmer) waist, and longer in the leg. I am 5'11", 170 lbs, athletic build, and got Large.

Best base layer for cold wet working conditions[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Smartwool base layers are the best! As a groundskeeper for over 45 years I've tried just about every base layer on the market. I work outside year round in Wyoming, many times with the temps below zero. In my opinion Smartwool base layers can't be beat! The fit is amazing, a flat band waist that doesn't bunch or pinch, material that doesn't sag, bag or bunch at the butt, crotch and knees (even after wearing for a week at a time) and you can't beat the longevity, this new pair is replacing my 5 year old pair that is still wearable. These keep me warm even when I am soaking wet and it's cold. Did I mention they are cuddly soft? I will buy these again and again and again.

This is a win for me because I am not vain.I had previously purchased some leggings from Welland, and had to return them because they were a little scratchy. I went looking for a higher percentage will contact, and found it with these leggings. Much softer! The only issue for me is that I am short (5'2") and so they are naturally baggy on my leg as they are meant to accommodate people who are taller than I am. So if you're looking for a sleek, fitted look, and your short, these are not for you. If you're taller, they might be perfect. If you are just looking for soft, warm leggings and you're going to be wearing boots so no one's going to see the excess fabric, go for it.

These are awful[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited for these and now I am so disappointed. I bough them last February and wore them once or twice before the weather warmed up. Now that it's cold again, I am wearing them again, but they are already falling apart. I have wore these pants a total of four times and washed them once (inside out, in a wash bag, with nothing to snag on) and there are SIX HOLES in the legs and the thighs have a bunch of pilling on them from my thighs rubbing together. These were really really expensive for leggings that didn't even last four wears and one wash without becoming completely damaged. These are the worst.

Replacing polyester with these!Very warm, soft and comfortable. The 2 I kept fit great and allow complete freedom of movement, although they tend to slide down a bit when running in them. (My hips are relatively narrow compared to my waist, so I'll try a smaller size for running.) Those I returned had a shorter rear rise that was not as comfortable. All were size large. The legs are far longer than I need (I'm 5'2", inseam about 28"), but my folded up cuffs stay in place and look ok, so shortening isn't essential. The extra fabric at the ankles helps keep them warm! Unlike my synthetic running pants, these don't get smelly, which greatly simplifies laundry!

Love Merino base layers in winterMy go-to base layer pant for winter sports (ice-climbing, cross-country skiing, hiking, snowboarding). Nothing else I've tried comes close to matching Merino wool in thermal regulation during exertion in cold temps. I'm the right temp when I'm sweating, I'm the right temp when I'm standing around belaying. Love the feel of these pants. The waist band is high enough to not sag down my butt below my snow pants when I'm moving. Sizing- I'm a 5'4" woman, 135lbs, the M fits great- form-fitting with margin to move and bend. #sweepstakes

Not sure about the fit updateHmm, not sure about the new model. I bought two sets of 250's about 10 years ago. Loved them and they held up well, but due to normal body changes after having kids, I needed to size up. I was disappointed to see that this new version has an elastic sewn into the waistband. For reference, I'm 5ft and 110lbs with a slim/athletic build and the waistband is kinda pinchy. Otherwise, fit is good. But I prefer the old style with the softer waistband.
