Product Reviews
Rated 4 out of 5 by from My New Go-To Top! I love this top and find that I keep grabbing it as my cozy layer when there's a nip in the air. The sizing feels a bit tighter than I would like. I am 5'6" and 120 lbs and usually wear a small. I ordered the small yet it is very clingy. I understand it is a base layer but after receiving it, I realised I like wearing it more like a sweater because I love the colour and pattern (Tibetan Red). It's my first ever Smartwool top so wasn't familiar with the sizing but based on the chart the small should have been perfect. I do still love it and foresee getting lots of use out of it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Used to love this garment I have purchased one of these tnecks each of the last 6 years. They keep getting smaller and smaller. The one I bought this year is likely my last since it barely accommodates me. Good thing that they are high quality since the 6 I have will likely last a very long time. This is my go to base layer for all outdoor activities and functions beautifully. Too bad Smart Wool has seems to not try to fit a middle aged figure!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another favorite I have a few Smartwool items and this is the newest addition. I add one to my growing collection every year. Turtlenecks usually give me the sensation of being choked, so I was worried I might not be able to wear this, but I'm happy to say this feels very comfortable. It's not at all constricting my neck with the zipper up and I like being able to unzip when I get overheated. I sometimes wear this over a 150 tank top for extra warmth. I find the size to be true to the size chart for a slim fit. Size up if you want to layer over more than a tank top or want more room around the middle. I agree with another reviewer, who mentioned that Smartwool sizing favors the slim body types, leaving out an entire segment of the population who do not fit that mold. Not sure if it is a branding thing that Smartwool only wants skinny people to be seen wearing their clothes. I'm not even overweight at 5'3" and 121 lbs. My proportions are just consistent with middle age, rather than young adult. That said, adjust your size selection based on how you plan to wear each item and whether or not you like your clothing to sit a little away from your body.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First time purchaser I ordered this a size larger than the size chart recommendation (S) with the expectation of wearing a standard 250 baselayer (XS) under. The sleeves and torso length are great. This fit over the baselayer but is quite snug but not uncomfortable. I purchased to wear at work, but it is a bit too form fitting for that purpose. I will enjoy it in our MN winters and hockey arenas. I am 5'5", 115 lb, 32C, 25-26 inch waist depending on brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I am an avid alpine skier. I was looking for a warm, comfortable and stylish base layer. This top fits the bill and then some! I have worn the top in 10 degree F weather and 36 degree F weather. It performs well - keeping me warm and wicking away moisture. It is stylish enough to wear at the ski lodge or anywhere in public. The sizing is accurate as well. I am now a huge fan of Smartwool! It also doesn't hurt the company is based in Steamboat Springs - my favorite place to ski ⛷

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the warmth, fit and color. Love the color, the fit and the warmth. Will use this for Xc skiing -- doesn't stay wet and zippered front is comfy and close but not too close. Easy to laundry and sweater dries quickly. I am 5'4", 128 # and comfortably wear size small. Rated 5 out of 5 by from looks and feels great! I wear my sweater to work. It looks great and keeps looking great after every wash. It is so comfortable- never itchy. It also smooths the look of my ample midsection. I work in a building that has very irregular heating. I never know if it is going to be cold or hot. With the merino wool, I a comfortable no matter the temperature. Love, love it! I just bought my second one. Wish it came in more colors! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Staple Tops for me I love this product of Smartwool. I order 3 or more of these tops every winter season as I wear them almost every day for casual activities and sport activities. They feel so good against my skin and regulate my body heat. They also don't smell quickly like polyester fabrics do and they wash up well. I don't put them in the dryer as they will shrink. I either lay them flat or hang them up inside out to dry. The only thing I don't like about these tops is that they tend to develop little holes around the waistline and sometimes at the wrist or cuff areas. I don't know why they do this. Icebreaker's tops don't do this. I buy those, too, when the designs and colors are nice. But, I like he color choices of Smartwool better. The black medallion top pictured for this review is very pretty. I usually wear a Large in most tops, but I order an XL in these tops for a looser fit and to be able to layer over a tank top. The black medallion top was a little larger than their normal XL tops, but it's okay and it sure looks slimming on. I got the ash colored medallion top, too, and I love that as well.
