Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes me not hate winter so much - love bordeaux I've built up my Smartwool collection over several years. Recently bought my second one of these in a larger size on days when I want a more relaxed-fitting top and want to feel less like I'm in a sausage casing. I actually wanted a long-sleeve merino shirt to wear as my only layer at my gym, where it is always FREEZING! It's hard to break a sweat in there because they keep it so cold all the time. As with all my Smartwool items, this gets worn many, many times before being washed. Because these pieces cost a lot, I always line dry because they dry quickly. If you travel a lot, merino wool is the way to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Work and Play I bought this shirt to have as a warm baselayer for winter hiking and camping as well as for shoulder season hikes. So far, however, I have only worn it for everyday and work. It is flattering, comfortable, and stylish enough to be used as a sweater for any occasion. I am 5'8 and 160lbs, athletic build. I bought this in a large and it fits, although it is a tad loose. The medium probably would have been a tad tight (especially in the winter with my extra "warmth" weight). It is worth noting that it was a bit itchy when I first got it. After the first wash, however, that wasn't a problem; it softened and is not at all itchy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and comfy. Relaxed yet fashionable. I bought this shirt in a printed color while in Jackson Hole in October and were it on several 7-14 mile hikes. The temps were around 50 and this shirt was a perfect layer. It was all I needed to stay warm during my hikes. The material is comfortable and doesn't itch. I sized up for my hiking prints. I'm 5'8" and 165 lb. got a large to for more like a sweat shirt. In the solids I got a medium so I could layer under a vest without any bulkiness. Warm and comfy. I now have 4!!!! Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth buying again I was given one of these tops in 2012 and marveled at how warm/comfortable/perfectly amazing it was. That one was starting to lose its elbows, so I replaced it earlier this year. The new one has significantly longer sleeves and torso, which is strange. It pilled on the second wear and the fabric is scratchy and rough, like cheap wool. Nowhere near what this product once was, and not the quality I expect from Smartwool. Disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the fabric dislike the bright white/multi color accents I gave it a 5 because I love Smartwool. The fabric is amazing. Comfy and it doesn't itch. I also loved the color. I thought I could get over the bright white iron on logo and the multi color iron on stripe. I feel these irons on take the piece down a few notches, cheapens the look. I wish Smartwool would get rid of all the bright white and multi color accents (including the multi color fabric around the neck). I wear these as tops, not just base layers, all winter long. I returned this piece and switched to a different brand that uses a monochrome stitched logo, classier look for everyday use. Maybe this is just me, but I don't get it. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the same quality I have this shirt in maroon and a gray/tan as well, both in a size M. The black one I just purchased has much longer sleeves, I'll have to get them altered, the shirt is wider and it stretches and gets bigger as you wear it. I was under the assumption the same shirts would have the same fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't live without! Love the Black Medallion print. Soft, warm wool. This is my 6th SW crew I've bought over the years. I wear them all Fall/Winter/Spring not only as a base layer for cycling, hiking, snowboarding, dog walking, I wear them as shirts at home and around town. When they're ready to retire I use them as pj tops. They're spendy but last for years and years. They outlast my cashmere sweaters and are so much more versatile. 38-30-40 got a L fits nice except for length 1 1/2" too long on my 5'3" frame [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sizing is off from previous 250 Mid 250 Crews. Smartwool must have found some new factories to make this top. The sizing is way off from previous Mid Crew tops. I have many Smartwool tops that all fit perfectly (15+). This one was quite a surprise - the arms and body are shorter and body is about 2" wider. Just a warning, there appears to be inconsistency in the fit of this top. If possible, go to a local store to buy.
