Rated 1 out of 5 by from A hole-y experience I got 2 pairs of these socks as a replacement for the Smartwool compression socks since I ended up having a hole in them after only 3 runs. Initially the Micro socks felt great and comfortable, nice fit but sadly...after only 3 runs I had a hole in them again. I could already see the fabric starting to thin out after the first run around my big toe. The sizing was proper to my shoe size by the way and my nails are always cut short, even sized them up to Medium since my shoe size falls right in between S and M. No luck for me. Second pair had a hole in the big toe area after 3 runs as well and I had to toss them. I bought a pair of Icebreaker running socks and they haven't let me down yet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Runs very small; low profile at heel I'd been wearing SmartWool PhD Running Light socks on my runs for the past year or so. This new style, Run Light, runs noticably smaller in length, and the profile is lower as well. I wear shoe size 7Wide, and ordered the Medium, but these socks pull on my toes uncomfortably. I've been wearing them around the house instead. The cushioning in the toe and heel seems satisfactory though, in comparison to the Running Light socks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 51% wool I hate these. I have had over 15 pairs of the non "elite" phd run socks, and I have run in them for 15 mile runs for several years now with little problems with blisters. I felt these new Elite socks and immediately they felt like any other sock. They are only 51% wool, whereas the old ones were 69% wool. I was already appalled at spending so much on the old design but did it to keep my feet blister free. I'm sure these new ones cost less to make since they are skimping on the materials- there's no way I'd pay this much for these new Nylon feeling socks. Also, there is too much distinction in the socks at the heel and toe. It's significantly more padded in those areas, causing a more drastic seem where the padding stops. I only ran a few miles in them before I decided they were going back, but I'm positive they would cause blisters on a long run. Again it seems like they are skimping on materials by having way less padding underneath the arches of the foot. If you loved the phd run light cushion socks, be aware these are very different. In my opinion, they feel cheap and are not worth the cost!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Thinner I bought these for my wife. She has been running in the PhD Light running socks for several years. She did not care for the new Elite socks. She says they are noticeably thinner and less comfortable on her runs. If you liked the old style know these are not the same socks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Socks did not hold up I wore these socks once for a 14 mile run and when i was done I had holes at the big toes. I threw them away. I have worn other SmartWool socks that held up better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Fit! I'm used to wearing a "light" sock for running and always wanted to try Smartwool socks because of all of the great reviews. Customer Support recommended I get a size Large since I wear a size 10 shoe. These socks are too thick, too long, and have too much bulk. They do not cling to my feet like I am accustomed to in my running socks that I usually wear--Feetures. The toe area is especially too wide with extra material there that looks like its there to accommodate bunions. I don't even know if a smaller size would work here! Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't stay on my feet I like these socks, but when I wear shoes with them they come off my heel and get bunched up under my arch. Very irritating.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Gone downhill These just barely stay up right out of package. They start to slip almost immediately and have to stop and pull them up. Much thinner too than ones I had bought three years ago. Disappointed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
