Not true to size at all.I wear an 11 in boots. Sometimes as low as a 10 if I get EE width. Ive had boots by everyone from Danner, to Belleville, to Oakley, Nike, Timberland, Redwings, just to name a few. My size has always been between 10 EE and 11 regular, or D width. 9...A 9 fits modestly loose. The loose that a good tightening can handle any smaller would pinch slightly. So be warned. Besides that, its exactly what I wanted. If youre used to heavy boots and want something a bit more comfortable/light for casual use and you live somewhere with nice weather (Long, cold, snowy winters) these are choice. Wanted wool, couldnt get it in my size, but these have been on point.

Solid boots, but the run bigThese are replacements for an older pair of Sorel boots that had run their course. The Men's Caribou are decent boots, but run very big. I'm a comfortable size 10 (which I ordered), and they fit pretty loose. Added some insoles to the bottom (underneath the removable liners) and it helped, but they still feel a bit loose. Too late to return them, as they were used a bit by the time I realized how loose they are. As for their temp rating - which is supposedly down to -40°F... yeah, I'm just going to say that's a GROSS EXAGGERATION. Wearing these in relatively moist snow at 15 F outside, I could feel the ground being a bit cool. I'd wager at -40 F, my feet would freeze within an hour.

Finally time to replaceDon't let the picture fool you, I bought the black pair. After 20 YEARS, I am actually replacing my original Sorel's. I'm still keeping the old ones, just going to keep them at the cottage to use there if I forget the new ones. The only reason I'm replacing them is the white fluffy stuff is worn out again and I felt like buying a newer model than replacing the insert again. It is really easy and affordable to get new inserts from the company, but I wanted something more newer. These boots are great and almost my whole family uses them. Warm, waterproof and great in light and heavy snow/ice. I bit heavy, but whats so bad with a leg workout while shoveling?

Love The Boots.. Hate the SoleHave Had Caribou's for 40 years. I've worn out 2 pairs.
Great Boots ! Can't for the life of me, figure out why you put NON Traction Sole on the new generation of this Boot.
I was suspect when I bought them. 1st Day out, I was walking across the Parking Lot at Mammoth, and Slipped directly on my BUTT! Not Happy ! Partially Tore my Rotator Cuff...
I immediately bought a pair Of, Get A Grip Xtremes', to slip over the soles. Never Slipped again...
Unless they change the Sole ,,, this is my last Pair.

Can't you open a store over here ?I bought my own Sorels a couple of years ago here in the Netherlands. Went looking for a pair for my husband last month when suddenly we had a lot of snow and his old boots appeared to be eaten by mice. Nowhere for sale anymore, but thanx to the internet and your excellent service (4 days from order to delivery to the other side of the world!)i have made him very happy with these great boots. Was a bit anxious about the size, but even that is ok. The shipping costs were a bit high, but worth it, and even then the total price is not high comparing to the local market prices for this quality.Thank you !

Mary the hiker from
Best winter boots ever.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I believe this is my third pair of Caribou boots ... over the last 40 years. I live at almost 7,000 feet elevation in Utah and thus experience my fair share of winter. I wear these boots for hiking, snowshoeing, shoveling, walking down the road with the dog or to get the newspaper. In my neighborhood, winter parties involve numerous pairs of Caribou boots in the entryway--we all own them. The quality, comfort, and style--always classic and timeless. Boots are true to size.

What a bootMake no mistake, this is not your everyday boot. These things are rated up to -40C. Extremely heavy duty, and seem tough as nails. Only con is the weight - these are fairly bulky. But again, these aren't the kinds of boots you'd use casually. But for anything serious (winter hikes, long treks through snow, etc), look no further - at ~$125, you're looking at one of the best bangs for your buck in existence when it comes to cold-weather boots. Note: a HUGE plus is that the interior liner is removable for washing. This essentially guarantees that these will last for many, many years to come.

Amazing Snow Boot!I purchased these Caribou boots for my husband. I've had my Caribou boots for over 30 years! I've replaced the liner once and they're still going strong. My husband had other snow boots but they didn't have the great traction that these have. He absolutely LOVES them. He tells everyone he meets they need to buy a pair! He normally wears a size 10, so I got him a 9 based on all the reviews that I read about them running large....they fit perfectly! We live in the mountains of Colorado so these will get a lot of use...hopefully at least 30+ years, like mine!
HOW to MEASURE 1. Place your feet flat on a piece of paper and mark your longest toe and the back of your foot. It's best to do this while standing and wearing the socks you would typically wear with the footwear you are shopping.
2. Measure the length (cm) straight from your longest toe to the back of your foot using a ruler or measuring tape.
3. Use the size guide above to determine your ideal Sorel size.
