Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great rope I've used lots of gym ropes and only a few outdoor ones so I am no guru but I like this a lot more than my previous 10.2mm sterling. This new 9.8 feels significantly thinner and feeds much better through both my atc devices (metolius BRD Black diamond Guide Belay),,,,Has tooooooooooons of stretch note the illustration of the word stretch as how I feel this rope. To be fair its pretty new but man does this thing give some cushion when you take a fall. ,,,,It seemed to repel dust/dirt pretty well and I like the color but it does seem to hide wear which maybe isn't a good thing. I guess if I did it again Id get a lighter color but I do love the way it looks

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Rope, Super happy with it. Got this rope a few months back and I love it. I got the Yellow Bicolor, and the only reason it doesn't get five stars is that it is already showing dirt...which really is only an aesthetic problem. Also I'm sure that darker colors wouldn't show dirt as soon. This 9.8 feeds more easily than my old 10.2 but is caught by the belay device just as well. It is definitely a stiff rope, which I like, it seems to make it easier to untie a figure 8 after a fall or two. Rope seems to be tough, no fuzz showing on it yet which i'm fairly sure is a result of the dry treatment. Best part: its noticeably lighter than my old 10.2 both when clipping and while hiking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a perfect rope for almost any situation! This is a fantastic rope! My first use of it was climbing some over hanging/inverted sport routes and the rope preformed beautifully. The weight of the 9.8 is noticeably lighter then a 10.2 while pulling it through a draw on a sport route. I also like the diameter because I personally feel that it is super solid and more durable then a 9.4. and a 10.4 is overkill for outdoor. Sterling makes one of, if not the best ropes on the market. I've known guys who have gotten many seasons of hard climbing out of their sterlings and nothing else can compare. I've taken many whippers on another sterling 9.8 and it holds up great and finally had to retire it last season.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great sport climbing rope I work at a gear shop that doesn't carry sterling ropes, but I pay full price for sterling. This rope, although a 9.8, and low Uiaa fall ratings of 6 fall, this rope makes you feel safe. If this is your only rope and all you do is sport climbing, then this rope is perfect. This should not be your rope of choice for sport climbing and top roping, a 10.2 sterling kosmos if you do both top roping and sport, a 10.4 sterling marathon if you do much more top roping than sport, and a 10.7 sterling marathon ultra if this is the only rope you see yourself buying in the next 5 years and you are going to be doing a lot of climbing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great rope for sport climbing This was my first rope purchase and a friend of mine recommended it, specifically in bicolor. I'm really glad he did because I love having that feature on this rope. I've never had a rope before and most people that saw the rope seemed jealous to have that feature, so I assume most people enjoy this as well. ,,I only sport climb and have used it for about a month's use total this summer and it seems to be holding up really well. I wouldn't know how fast a rope normally wears, but I am happy with this. Feels pretty good falling on it as well. I'd recommend this to anyone if you want a quality rope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from There's a reason everyone in my climbing posse owns this rope. Starting last year multiple obnoxiously Neon Yellow ropes began to pop up in my friend's rope bags. It was like a fluorescent virus, once someone climbed on/belayed with/touched/looked at one of these beauties 3 days later they would proudly announce they had a new rope and unveil their own neon coloured rope of goodness. My only hesitation, was what colour to get, as to not get them confused with the 7 others that exist in our group (I went with Silver). Srsly tho, this rope is a beauty, easy to belay with in both a Gri and a Gri 2, catches well in an ATC despite being a 9.8, is light to clip with and has just the perfect amount of stiffness. Catch the neon disease, you won't regret it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everyone loves this rope I picked one up this summer and I love it. I've used it on lots of sport routes in Boulder Canyon and Rummney, as well as some trad routes at the Gunks, and it's fantastic everywhere. Nice, soft falls, but it's got the perfect amount of stiffness to make clipping easy. I've climbed with lots of people with WAY more experience than I do (including a few part-time guides), and they all say my rope is one of their favorites. You won't be disappointed. ,,,,The colors are far more electric than the pictures shows. I have the bicolor blue and it looks fantastic against a dark rock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all-around rope. Does what you want it too! I have used this thing a couple times now for lead and top-rope and I must say, it's pretty awesome! This rope glides through quickdraws and biners like it's its job..... oh wait.... It's got a pretty nice elasticity and you'll have a blast belaying with it too. This is my first rope buy, and I am pleased to say the least with my purchase. I like it even more than all the gym ropes I've used in the past. No matter your experience level or preferred style of climbing, I can tell you that you'll be happy with this sterling rope. Hope this helps you decide which one to buy. As a last bit of info, I dropped from a different 10.2 to this rope last second and am glad I did. Now quit stalling, get this, and go climb some BA routes.
