Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Duffle Bag! First off I want to start by thanking North Face for bringing back the carrying handles. I have a few renditions of the Base Camp Duffle and this one by far is the best yet. This is my first time purchasing the XL - 135 Liter version which I appreciate. Lots of room for international travel especially if you space your clothing and items with cubes, lots of space for domestic travel as well, or if you want to simply stick camping/hunting or fishing gear in it to store in a garage or the back of your vehicle. If you are thinking about purchasing a duffle bag, this one is it. Job well done.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sometimes change isn't good Don't fix what isn't broken. This was THE quintessential travel bag for explorers, but with the changed, it is not very convenient to carry, and will lose that status. You don't need to breathe new life into everything, please, before too many people move to other brands, bring back the carry handles. It may work on smaller bags not to have the handles, but I have no idea how you would carry move this thing around with 50 pounds of camping gear without carry straps. The previous versions were literally perfect, with grap handles on the longer end for short moves from car to ground, and carry straps for longer walking moves. I definitely won't be trusting the shoulder straps to do that. I will return this and rely on my old XL base camp duffel and an army duffel until they realize their mistaken and change it back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bag But... These bags are awesome and hold up to a lot of abuse, but getting rid of the "grab handles" makes them hard to manuver. I assume that North Face did away with the handles because of all the straps at the top of the bag which you had to work you way through to get the bag open. Much more combursome on the smaller bags than the larger bags. I think North Face should come back with the "grab handles" and make the backpack straps totally removable and if not completely removable at least removable on one end with clips!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Substantial Duffel I actually travel extensively for a living and have the North Face structured duffel with wheels which I use all the time and love it. My husband and I bought 2 base camp duffels for our upcoming Patagonia Trek and needed softer bags without wheels. He bought this gorgeous green in XL and I got the Large in camouflage. We love them because they are both stylish and functional. They don't look big, but pack in a lot of items. Because you can fit in so much, be careful the bag doesn't get too heavy to pick up! Having the back pack style straps help to carry the bag a longer distance. I envision getting many uses out of these bags and highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best duffel hands down One of the best duffels I've ever owned. I use it for everything from trips to work, to traveling long distances. The bag is extremely durable and I carry my things without any worry of the contents being damaged by water, dirt, etc. The xs is the perfect size for me, the small pocket on the outside easily carrys my wallet, passport, and keys for easy access. The best feature is the ability to wear the bag as a backpack and the straps are surprisingly comfortable even with heavy weight. A lot of people complain about the carry handles located on the outside of the bag being too small, but they work perfectly for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PERFECT CARRY-ON AND DAY-PACK I got this bag for a trip to Greece and am beyond pleased with it. Not only did it fit into each of our airplanes' overhead storage bins (even on the smaller plane), it also worked well for a daypack and, coincidentally, fit perfectly over the handlebars of an ATV. The zippered pocket made for great, accessible phone and passport storage; the compression straps are easy to tighten and loosen and do a great job helping everything in the pack feel tight and secure; and the backpack straps are comfortable. Re: a previous review, the black bag now has a black interior. I'm already planning on getting the extra small, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag for travel and everyday I use this duffel more than once a week to carry everything I use while snowboarding. Its very tough and is comfortable to carry unlike a regular duffel bag. The shoulder straps are even more comfortable than my backpacking bag. I recently used it on a one week trip to Flordia. It fit perfectly in the overhead compartment and the side handles made it easy to get down. I fit about a week of clothes in no problem plus a bunch of food. When snowboarding I can easily fit my jacket, snow pants, and helmet. Also included with my duffel was a bag used to ship it. It fit inside on one side and was a great packing cube.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. Only one suggestion for improvement I love this bag and think it is a very well constructed quality product. I use this to store and haul about all my mountain rescue gear and used the xxl version of this bag as my sled duffle on Denali. I have one suggestion for improvement. The shoulder straps (backpack straps) need to have a buckle to release the straps (like the Patagonia duffles have), otherwise the backpack straps tend it get in the way and you have to constantly re-adjust the fit when then close the bag and out it back on your back. Overall.. fantastic product and well worth the cost.

How many liters of storage is the XL?

Asked by: Charles87
Hey, Charles! Great question! As you can see from our product specifications above, the XL in this duffel measures 17.72 x 29.73 x 17.72 inches. The capacity of the XL is 132 L. If you need something larger, this duffel does come in a XXL size as well, which has a capacity of 150 L (we don't have that size in stock, so you'd have to check out The North Face for that size). I hope this helps!
