DWR tech

Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

PrimaLoft insulations and fabrics

PrimaLoft
PrimaLoft was originally developed to serve as a water resistant, synthetic alternative to goose down for the U.S. Army. Since then PrimaLoft has been a leader in insulation and fabric technologies in the outdoor industry, and is used by the top outerwear and clothing brands to craft pieces that offer warmth without bulky weight, packablity, and both water resistance and breathability for all your outdoor adventures.

Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far a great coat [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been wearing this for a couple weeks in a (so far) mild Iowa winter. It is heavy enough for the 15 degree days going to the office, but not too heavy for the 35 degree days. I think with a sweatshirt underneath it will work well for the days below zero as well. I'm not sure it is warm enough for sitting outside on really cold days, but for my use it seems to be perfect. I haven't had it for long, but it seems to have the excellent construction and durability I expect from North Face and I anticipate that I will use it for years like I have my previous North Face jackets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got me through the Texas snowstorm! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really love this jacket. Its the right amount of thickness that doesn't interfere. The lining is cool to touch, but quick adapts to body temperature. There's a soft fleece lining that cradles the back of your neck and keeps it warm. You could probably keep this jacket on all day if you wanted and be the most comfortable person in the room. The Texas snowstorm was totally unexpected, but this jacket was all I needed. I could play with my daughter in the snow, stay warm while heading to work, and buy groceries among the chaos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this jacket!!! Saw in the store and fell in love. Didn't have my size in color desired so ordered online. It's sooo comfortable and looks great. Website picture doesn't do justice. I love the design transition between hoodie-to-collar... I'm going to wear all the time in PA...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You won't regret it [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I actually purchased this for my son for Christmas. Then the Texas ice age happened and I borrowed it. As a home Heath RN this jacket saved my life while transporting patients from homes with no electricity and/or water. It kept me warm and dry while offering many pocket. My biggest complaint about winter jackets is the restricted movements, but not this bad boy. I was able to bend, lift patients, and move quickly. I will be purchasing myself one very soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maximum Comfort Soft material. Lightweight and still keeps you warm with only a single layer underneath. Zippers are strong, and the jacket can also be adjusted to keep water and wind out better.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The older version of coat is way better The hood is too large. The old version of coat you could tighten the hood around the back of the head, this just tightens around the hair line and covers my eyes when tightened. The sleeve cuffs are way to large and even with the velcro adjustment it looks stupid because so much material is folded over. The velcro comes undone when you put hands in pocket as the velcro sticks to the fleece lined pockets. Im going to return the coat and find the older style of the apex elevation jacket. Had high hopes but expectations fell way short.
