DWR tech

Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

The North Face WindWall

The North Face WindWall
WindWall is a fleece fabric that retains the comfort, flexibility and breathability of traditional fleece while eliminating wind chill, which enhances warmth. The unique bonding process cuts 80 - 95% of wind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cool weather walking, cold weather exercise Well cut, close-fitting, but flexible gloves. Suitable for a techy town glove. Nice gripping palm, very functional touchscreen technology. I'd call these light-medium gloves: for walking around, they'll be most comfortable in 30-45F degree weather; colder than that and you'll probably be putting your gloved hands in your pockets. There just isn't a ton of insulation. I haven't used them for exercise yet, but I imagine they'll be ideal for cross-country skiing and jogging in 10F degree or colder weather. Finally, not sure about water resistance. These would be perfect if they had a full waterproof breathable membrane, but that would drive up the price, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I thought. I got the Apex ETiop gloves a few weeks back, and I absolutely love it. I got the small size, and it feel true to the size. The gloves are comfortable, fits well and and more than sufficiently keeps the hands warm. The etip on the gloves also works perfectly well on touch screen devices, ensuring that you dont need to remove your gloves to access your phones and tablets. It's a perfect and must-have winter accessory for regular use. It is water repellant, but not 100% water-proof. Having said that, for a typical winter day, it's more than enough. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good pair of gloves for daily use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly Good Product from TNF These gloves are typical of the latest products from TNF. They are not the best gloves for active winter sports or outdoor work. However, they are tough to beat if you are looking for warm gloves for traveling and wearing around town. The etip is integral to the glove material so it does not matter which part of your finger touches the screen of your smart phone: it just works every time. It's by far the best medium weight glove on the market right now if you want to be able to use a touch screen. It's fairly warm and has a good fit. A small fits a little bigger than other brands - to the point I can wear a light glove liner underneath. Overall, these fit my needs but I'll be buying some lined leather gloves for 'hands on' activities.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for winter hiking I like that the cuffs on these gloves are a little elastic so they're able to go over your sleeves (but tight enough to feel secure). I haven't looked at what the inside lining is made of, but it's super soft and feels like felt. While these were true to size, they are a tad bulky. That being said, they are much smaller/form fitting than heavy duty winter gloves (e.g., anything made for skiing/snowboarding and more extreme). The bulk makes using touchscreens a little difficult, but the conductivity on each finger tip of the glove works as advertised. Someone commented that these are not for Minnesota cold. I would agree/disagree with that statement. I agree that these will not keep your hands warm in subzero temperatures if you are IDLE (i.e., resting/sitting). However, if you are HIKING (or doing any other moderate cardio), these gloves will be warm in subzero. I just came back from a short 6 mile hike in 12F weather and my hands were toasty! Would definitely recommend these gloves for winter outdoor recreational activity (warm when active) or for short outdoor walks to-from the car/school etc.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A good looking glove that just doesn't quite fit right This is my first review and first experience with North Face, so if you need some salt, I understand. The gloves are very good looking in my opinion and I was buying them mainly for the purpose of getting around on the weekends, i.e. not snow-showing in Nepal or anything fancy like most people reviewing on this website; however while the gloves looked good to me my wife said they reminded her of 'Hulk' gloves as the fingertips look painted on, and I found the lining to be quite uncomfortable. Though they are quite warm and the palms have great grip, their sizing is a bit goofy, tight wrists, long thumb, short fingers, which makes them hard to wear at times.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice but... These gloves are great, it does what they said. BUT they are NOT warm at all. I live in Canada, winter can be really cold and these gloves does not keep my hand warm at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice materials, warm in 30 to 40 degree temps This is my first North Face glove. I have North Face ski jackets (including Tri Climate), I have not been disappointed with North Face products (including messenger bags). The quality on this pair of gloves is pretty nice. I use these primarily from getting into my car for my daily commutes. They are a bit bulky for holding the steering wheel and operating the turn signals, while my car warms up. I have tested these in 30 to 40 degree in New York where I work. I have tested in windy weather, it keeps your hands warm depending on how long you are outside. I would say warmth is up to the user. I like these.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not meant for cold weather These gloves are nice and slim fitting so they easily fit underneath your jacket sleeve. Problem is that they don't keep your hands warm in cold winter temp's. They're a good late fall, early winter glove but definitely are not meant for negative temperatures.
