The North Face FUTURELIGHT technology

The North Face FUTURELIGHT
The North Face FUTURELIGHT fabric technology features an ultra-thin nanomembrane for outerwear made with 90% recycled materials. The breathable-waterproof technology keeps you comfortable by allowing your body to breathe, prevents water and snow from soaking in and remains light, soft and durable. Ready to go on the trail, rock and crag for weather protection on your desired adventure.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Product Reviews
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Jacket fell apart after one wash [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this jacket one year ago. After first wash the jacket fell apart at the bottom across entire length of the jacket. I returned that jacket and received a new one. I started it using this spring again since it is not insulated jacket. This time fell apart after 2 washing cycles....it is progress.. It fell apart in the same spot - bottom of the jacket and across entire length. It looks like this jacket is glued at that spot instead sewn and this is a problem. right now I'm contacting North Face to fix that jacket since clearly it is bad design. I would not recommend this product to anybody!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing jacket! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this jacket! I wore it on top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. It was FREEZING outside. But I was nice and toasty in this jacket. It's lightweight, waterproof, and warm but breathable. I'm a believer in FUTURELIGHT now.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Amazing jacket ruined by tight fit in the shoulders [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all, this is a great jacket. I'm quite impressed by the craftsmanship, the material, and the design. I just wish it fit me properly. Admittedlly, I am a bigger guy: I'm 6', 240 lbs with a broad chest and broad shoulders, and that's where the problem lies with this jacket. It's just strangely tight across the chest, and I can feel the material tightly pinching my back and biceps. Yet the length is fine and there's plenty of space in the abdomen area. If you don't have broad shoulders like I do and are more straight from top to bottom, then this jacket might fit you perfectly, in which case I would suggest you buy it. The Futurelight material is really amazing: it's stretchy, breathable, and repels water as expected. It's also super lightweight, making this perfect for hiking or just moving around town. I wish the North Face had a size for guys with big, athletic builds. If it was sized right, I absolutely would have kept this jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One of the best jacket's I've ever tried on [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this jacket along with the NorthFace Allproof Stretch Jacket to plan for a trip to Ireland. This jacket was extremely comfortable to wear with nice inner pockets, super light, and felt high quality. It was almost perfect. Unfortunately, the fit is quite loose for what I wanted and the sleeves seem a bit longer than expected. I bought a small and the sleeves were 34" long! So I went with the Allproof Stretch Jacket as that one is more form fitting. Had it not been for the loose fit, I would've kept the Apex Flex Futurelight as it's a very high quality jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight and warm [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket is completely waterproof and wind proof. Its the perfect jacket for me due to my cycling in ALL weather conditions. The jacket is light weight and flexable and one of the few jackets from northface that has a darkened logo which i prefer over the white. I highly recommend this jacket to active people who dont like heavy bulky winter jackets. Just layer up and you will be warm and toasty all winter long with out the bulk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the fit and feel of this jacket so far [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] OK I have not worn this jacket in heavy rain for a long duration yet, so this review is based on the limited times I have worn it. I am writing this review today because this is the first warmer day I've worn it and I didn't get hot at all while wearing it. I'm not sure what was going on at North Face and why it was so hard to find this jacket after it first came out, but when they finally got it in stock I purchased one. The only color available at the time I got mine in late 2020 was black and while that might not have been my first choice, it looks very nice and I'm happy with it. You can wear this to work as well as on a hike. It feels great on, looks very nice, and fits perfectly. It is significantly more flexible with better stretch/movement than the old Gore-Tex version of the Apex Flex. If you touch the two you wouldn't believe they are the same jacket, not sure about performance difference, but Futurelight feels and looks much nicer! I'm not sure if I would use this on my runs unless it was a total downpour and a little chilly, but it is perfect for wearing for a hike or around town in even a heavy rain. I might even try wearing it as a shell over a base layer and insulating layer when skiing. When I travel I plan to pack this as my only jacket. It also has very nice zippers, pockets, and adjustable hood. If the waterproof aspects of this jacket fail or don't hold up I will definitely update my review but for now I have nothing but positive things to say about this jacket. I specifically picked this jacket over the Dryzzle because of the fit. The Dryzzle seems to be much wider and not at all formfitting and that's not what I wanted. I'm kind of right between a small and a medium depending on the product and style, this jacket fits me perfectly in medium. I'm 5'11" and weigh about 150 pounds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3 years and counting [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a window cleaner/highrise and live in the Pacific northwest. This jacket has lasted me three years and counting. Literally the best jacket I've ever owned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome jacket [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Haven't used this jacket in significant rain or running yet, however the fabric is very soft and comfortable, great waterproofing in light rain. Doesn't wet out. The fit is slimmer than most, but not too tight. Perfect fit in my opinion and still room to layer if necessary.
